Country name game

We got a world capitals game going, how about a country name game. Same rules as the capital one. Every answer starts with the last letter of the previous answer. Here is the starter:

Perhaps we need to stipulate the rules of the game more clearly. Yugoslavia is no longer a country. The name for Yugoslavia is now Serbia & Macedonia. However, if we expand the rules to include all sovereign states, whether they still exist or not, the pool of available names will certainly be greater. For instance, Czechoslovakia would be available to use, whereas today there is no such country as Czechoslovakia (having divided into Czech Republic and Slovakia).

Anyhow, for now, here's my "A" country, unavoidably also ending in "A" until we change the rules:

The whole idea was to take the 2nd letter one time to get out of the "a" problem, but perhaps I'm wrong.

You are absolutely correct: Montenegro. It's funny how multitasking can mess with the things you know. I know Macedonia is wrong, probably knew it when I typed it, and yet the fact that I had just completed a discussion with a Greek colleague arguing about the Greeks and their obsession with calling Macedonia "Skopje" put my mind in a place where I just typed the wrong thing.

In any case, the game is screwed by the recycling of countries beginning and ending in A.
