A Lesson in Fear and Understanding
I found a comic on another site on the internet and I think that it provides a valuable lesson to the men here. I knew that many transwomen are hesitant to report assaults against them to the police. I thought I understood why; and then I read the comic in the next post. I suddenly understood like never before why so many transwomen do not report assaults. I urge all men here to read the next and any subsequent posts.

As mentioned above I found this comic on another site. Unfortunately I don't know who to credit for creating it. It spoke very loudly and clearly to me. It gave me an understanding of what transwomen have to fear not only from being assaulted, but also the consequences of reporting an assault.

More like "graphic art" than comic, Ila. Pretty powerful.

Thankyou jimnaseum. Graphic art is exactly the word that I was searching for but couldn't come up with.

Thank you for that post Mr. Polar Bear. Yes, it was indeed pretty powerful stuff. I've seen that shit happen all too often, especially in small towns; it is a sobering reminder of what some people go through for living their life the way they see fit.

Great post Ila.
Sad but all too true. Another example of reality vs fantasy. The reality is that cruelty, intolerance and violence are the real crimes. In all its forms. I hope in some small (or even big) way, we can all make a positive difference in the world. Its not enough to be empathetic, we have to be brave, speak up, and make a difference. |

I want to take a moment to focus on the last part of the story. Where the police shows up. It's a tough position to be in - on one hand, talking to the cops can potentially save another person from the same violence if the guys are caught. On the other, it opens you up to further victimization.
Being blamed for violence against you by someone in authority, someone you are taught will protect you - happens. In a state where you are already scared, hurt, violated the first thought is to slink away and recover.

It's pretty confusing for a cop to be asked to arrest someone for doing what he wanted to be doing himself.
