2009 World AIDS Day
Dec. 1st is WORLD AIDS DAY! Do you know someone who has been subject to this disease or living with AIDS currently? As a transsexual and among the GLBT Community I have known many friends who lost their battle with HIV and friends who are living with HIV. I hope that people take the time to check out the Official Web site for World AIDS Day, http://www.worldaidsday.org/. I hope people understand that HIV is not a gay disease but a human disease. It is our responsibility to educate our children and ourselves when it comes to safe sex. Here are some staggering statistics about HIV:
33.4 million people living with HIV worldwide 31.3 million adults 15.7 million women 2.1 million children under 15 Now as a Transsexual Porn star I hope that as an Adult Performer that we understand how important it is to DEMAND A.I.M testing, http://www.aim-med.org/ . Whether a company uses condoms or not it is our given right to ask that anyone we have sex with has a recent test from the Industry's only Adult Testing facility. "A non-profit corporation created to care for the physical and emotional needs of sex workers and the people who work in the Adult Entertainment Industry. Through our HIV and STD testing and treatment, our counseling, and support-group programs, we are happy to be serving the sex worker community. Our goal is to provide health care for the body, mind, emotion, and spirit, as well as to take a leadership position in promoting safe and responsible sexual behavior, not only for the adult entertainment industry, but for everyone" , this is the mission of AIM Healthcare. Its important that civilians understand that we take our job seriously and want to protect all those involved in these shoots. It is all IMPERATIVE that the Gay Adult Industry stop thinking with their bank accounts and man up and require testing. It is shocking that the gay community has not done this considering that homosexual men are in a high risk for HIV. Just using a condom is NOT enough! On this day I hope that we all educate ourselves a bit more but most importantly continue to support organizations that are helping with not only treatment and cure but organizations that help those individuals living with HIV. Thankyou for this thread, Wendy.
I would also like to add that many coutnries also have their own HIV/AIDS education and research organizations and charities. One such organization that I know of in Canada is the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) at http://www.canfar.com |
