I started with a Commodore 64 as well. Did you have the cassette? I also had to hook it up to an old color TV. My Dad had a Compaq DeskPro 386 for work and a T1 line that GM paid for. So I was exposed to business and technology at a pretty early age. We had a Novell network at school and one of the teachers let me work with it. Under his supervision of course. I remember almost all of the original DOS based computers and the earliest versions of Windows. One of my professors in grad school had an old "CP/M" machine sitting in his office. It still worked. My first "real" computer was a "hand me down" IBM PC/AT that used 1.2 Mb floppies had a 20Mb hard drive and used a "286" processor running at 6Mhz.

My first "new" computer was a "Gateway 2000" 486 running at 25Mhz. It was the first to have "VGA" graphics so you could see "real" pictures.

During middle school through High school I probably owned over a dozen PC's including Mac's. In college I learned UNIX and became proficient at C++. My undergraduate was in Industrial Management which was Purdue's way of combining Business and Engineering. The last CRT monitor I owned was in 1999. It was a Dell and had a 19" screen. I got a workout carrying it around. Everything since then has been a flat screen. My current home display is 27". For most professional work I use an HDMI interface at our university and in my office. My current home desktop uses an AMD Ryzen with 32 Cores and has a 1Tb Solid State drive. Everything is wireless. I have a Linux machine in my office as well as many tablets and notebooks.

At my university they give us "Acers" running Windows 7 and Office 2013. Most of the students have better technology. The main classroom I teach in has six huge flat panel displays that I can control with my phone or iPad.

Sorry to go on and on. Long boring post...

(In 1988, one of the school administrators gave me this "certificate" after I helped him with an end of year project. 30 years ago! Notice the "border" of "floppies." No I wasn't very old. Surprised I still have it. He was one of my inspirations to go into teaching many years later. He is still alive and we correspond now and then. Of course, along the way I managed to add to my collection by earning a Bachelor's Degree, an MBA, and Doctorate. I'm chair of the Business Analytics Program at our university and I also own a market research company. I've done pretty well.)

So as not to take this thread way off track I'll keep my answer short.

The Commodore 64 that I learned on belonged to my boss. He was modern for his times and had 2 drives both 5 14" floppies. The monitor was a tv. This the computer that I had to learn some Basic to operate.

The Atari I learned on belonged to an educational institution. DOS had progressed to the point where I didn't need to use any Basic programming.

The first computer that I ever bought was Gateway 2000 486 with a 33 MHz processor, a 5 1/4" floppy drive and a 3 1/2", but no CD ROM drive. It came with a huuuuge 14" monitor.

I'll try to get it back on track. I'm thinking of changing my desktop wallpaper. Which one should I pick?

(Somebody went to a lot of trouble to make a Windows 95 theme for Windows 10. Why? )

Loni Anderson.

We've covered the 60's pretty well so time to do the 70's. Certainly one of, if not the most popular TV star of the late 70's and early 80's was Loni Anderson. Most of these pictures were from 1979 and the one of her on the Incredible Hulk is from 1977. Loni is another one who I know about from a friend who had an encounter with her maybe 10 years ago. She said she was very small and also incredibly sweet. Loni was on her way somewhere so my friend didn't bother her for pictures or an autograph but they smiled and said "Hello."

FYI: That is Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk. No CGI back then. He was a champion bodybuilder and barely lost to Arnold in the 1975 Mr. Olympia contest. Listed at 6'5" 275 he was one of the largest men of his time. Most NFL players were not even close. Even though he had never played football he started briefly for the Toronto Argonauts. Remember this was over 40 years ago!

Loni is another beauty who I think would fit in well today. She and Heather Thomas are easily my two favorites from that era.

Good news. Hayley is currently leading 4 to 1. You can probably guess which of the two is already gracing my desktop...

However, the Windows 95 logo might be “sexier” then most people think. In 1995, Microsoft chose the song “Start Me Up” by the Rolling Stones as the theme song for the release of their new operating system. It was played during commercials and you could even order the album “Tattoo You” directly from Microsoft.

Microsoft was also pushing, at the time, the “educational” aspects of technology and targeting younger people (especially grade and middle school students such as myself). Of course Apple had this market wrapped up almost from the beginning. I remember that Microsoft targeted “Encarta” a “multimedia” CD-ROM based encyclopedia at people my age. I still have my copy and it is painful to look at almost 24 years later. Once I showed it to my current students (college age) during a discussion of the evolution of interactive technology and they couldn’t stop laughing at it. The “basketball” video is a classic.

Anyway, I digress. Someone in "PR" wasn't paying attention... If you are familiar with the lyrics to “Start Me Up” you know it’s not appropriate for a “family friendly” product. Also it received unintended ridicule from “IT” professionals with the lyric “You make a grown man cry” as it was notoriously difficult to work with. But it gets better… Here are some of the actual lyrics, my favorite are the last two:

If you like it, I can slide it up

Slide it up, slide it up, slide it up

You, you, you make a grown man cry

You, you made a dead man come

You, you made a dead man come

Glad the picture of her "at bat" is getting some views. I guess long before Taylor and her baseball bat there was Loni and hers...

From October 1979. She would have been 33. Just a little younger. The perfect age for me.

Now we just need to invent a time machine...

Little known fact: The "asshole" on the other team (rival radio station I think) was Loni's husband in real life. Once Loni achieved great success, their marriage broke up. About a year later she would star in "The Jayne Mansfield Story" with an up and coming actor/bodybuilder in one of his first roles. His name? Arnold Schwarzenegger. I have seen this movie on TV. It's pretty good. Jayne is the mother of Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SUV. Loni and Arnold make an "awesome" couple. Mom? Dad?

One more pic of Loni. That's with "Les Nessman" the dorky newsman. I don't know the episode (maybe the Thanksgiving Turkeys?) but God, she's beautiful.

(Of course I think Loni and I would work as well. Except I wasn't around yet! I never knew that about her and her husband, that's sad. I have been through a divorce. It sucks. One of the worst things I've ever experienced. I can only imagine the pressures associated with being in the "public eye" constantly and the demands of one's career. Loni has commented about the impact of the Internet and "social media" on celebrities saying that back in her day it was bad, but it was limited because none of that existed. Even the paparazzi weren't as bad. Nothing like today. )

He only has eyes for you…

Tried to talk my wife into something like this for Christmas…

From 1926! Look at how Frosty is smiling. Bet that’s not a carrot down there…

Damn! It’s all of my “ex’s”...

God, the girl in the red dress and stockings. Yes, he IS way too old for you…

She’s thinking “Shit. Never shoulda 'swiped right.' But his profile sounded so hot...”

My wife after she found out I headed down to Nashville last night to watch the Colts/Titans game with Hayley. Even worse, she discovered I bet our savings on Tennessee...

No reason, just think this girl is super hot and sexy AF. Don’t even care if she smokes in bed or not…

The first time I put my hand there on a girl I got slapped… Shouldn't have done that with my teacher.

Cute. From 1965. YOU tell her Pluto’s not a planet anymore…

OK baby. Let’s see you try that with an iPhone…

I see nothing weird about this. Shit, I have women on the brain 24/7…

Since quite a few of my posts in this thread feature covers of beautiful women from “Film Fun” magazine, I decided to do some research on it before I have to start in again next week on my real job. They are very risqué. Especially for almost 100 years ago! Not that I’m complaining.

From MagazineArt.org:

Quote:
FILM FUN ran from July 1915 to September 1942. Actually, however, it traced its roots back to the late 19th century, having begun as JUDGE'S SERIALS (1887 to January 1890), reprinting material from the humor magazine JUDGE. This became JUDGE'S LIBRARY (February 1890 to July 1912) and then THE MAGAZINE OF FUN (August 1912 to June 1915). Apparently FILM FUN did continue on after 1942 under some other name.

Going by the covers it's hard to take FILM FUN seriously as a movie magazine. Well, it didn't take itself seriously. In the beginning it covered humorous movies and actually had comedians on the covers. By 1921 it was running painted covers by the likes of John Held, Jr., and by 1922 Enoch Bolles was painting for it. Bolles did women in bathing suits and women in skimpy clothes; some believe they were called "pin-ups" (how quaint that sounds today!). Meanwhile the magazine continued with stories about movies, biographies of the stars, and lots of pictures. Maybe they were racy by the standards of the day, but today we find them, well, quaint. From mid-1923, until just before it folded in 1942 (after changing to photographic covers, partly because it was under threat of an obscenity prosecution), Bolles painted almost every cover for this magazine.
(Ila even makes an appearance. Except it can’t be him. Because ila is the same age as me... "29." So it must be one of his ancestors. Either way I would trade places… )

My favorites above are the girl in the yellow swimsuit (from 1933) and the one next to her lying on the beach (from 1934).

This site is educational. So we know now that “the perfect ass” has existed for at least 85 years…

(You learn something everyday. For example, it took me a while to “catch on” to the “double-entendre.” in the last one. “Petting” is an old-fashioned term for “making out” sometimes including everything all the way up to all-out fucking. Don’t know how I knew that… I think it was from watching re-runs of “Happy Days.” )

Wow! "Film Fun" looks fun indeed! My favorite is the lady on the lower left- hot!

My parents had an old hardback coffee table book called "Life Goes To The Movies" from Life Magazine. In it were some pictures I really loved of Julie Newmar as Stupefyin Jones from the movie "Lil Abner"
There were also some of Shirley Maclaine that I really enjoyed

Feel free to post! My parents had a similar book called something like "Life Goes to War." Lots of beauties in the style of pinups like the "Film Fun" covers. Many 40's actresses too. Quite a few adorned the noses of WWII bombers and fighter aircraft. The "Memphis Belle" was very tame. Others were quite risque. There are many collections out there. Worth checking out.

I loved that book when I was kid and would sneak it up to my room from time to time

I can't remember all the beautiful actresses in there but I do remember being struck by how gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor was as Cleopatra and would fantasize about being this magnificent queen's young boy-toy

Excellent choice! Elizabeth Taylor is considered to be one of if not the most beautiful woman to ever live.

I have never seen "Cleopatra" but I had a similar "crush" on Anne Baxter from the "Ten Commandments" it used to be on TV every Easter. I'm sure my Mom and Dad thought I was more interested in the religious significance of the story...

Wow! She's pretty!

You know, it seems I've always had a thing for queens.. "Marsha Queen of Diamonds"was perhaps the first lady to ever turn me on. And then there were other queens...like Beverly Sills

Aircraft nose art during WWII was quite risque. Even though both the USAAF and RAF issued directives against decorating aircraft they couldn't prevent it and finally decided it was good for morale.

That is Betty Grable ("Million Dollar" legs ) gracing "Sentimental Journey" a Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortress," and of course the famous "Memphis Belle." The site said it was the restored original but there is also a "movie" version that makes the rounds.

Of course our friends and allies in the RAF also got into the act, "Just Jane" is very sexy and nicely adorns this Avro "Lancaster."

But perhaps the most elaborate and "X-Rated" art to adorn any aircraft was "The Dragon And His Tail" a Consolidated B-24 "Liberator" flown by the United States. It survived the war only to be destroyed for scrap. The artwork was restored on another "Liberator" of the same type many years later. I first saw a picture of it in one of my Dad's aviation magazines. It is, needless to say, quite popular over 70 years later at air shows. Wonder why?

Pretty cool!

I love retro-glamour as you know, especially when it has a modern twist like these gorgeous ladies from "T-Girl Pin-Ups", Jonelle, Olivia, and Vaniity.

Was kind of a "late bloomer" didn't know about girls or sex until I was 30...

My dad must have snapped this of me looking at my first pictures of naked women. Was still living at home.

“Virginia Slims” ads. These were very sexy. Remember them from my mom's old magazines. They ran from about 1979-80 through the early 90's. I think the first one is my favorite. Looks like a different kind of “football” from what I played, but she could throw a flag on me for “illegal use of hands” anytime then insist that we meet in her office after the game to discuss it further.

The second one. I'm sure we could find something to do with that rope.

And the billboard. Long before I could drive. Maybe even before I was born. Anyway, good thing 'cause I'd probably run off the road or crash into it.

I’m sure she’s saying “Don't untie me just yet, asshole…”

“Rule 34” – "If it exists (or not), there’s porn of it." This doesn’t do anything for me. But hey, whatever, it’s all good…

Most “Prometheus's” are large, muscular, and have beards and body hair. This one however… Now if only he had long blonde hair and blue eyes, his oiled body stretched tightly, his cock, encased in a chastity device, straining to rise to its full 7", needing relief…

They way she’s looking at the photographer: “Next time let Andy tie me up. You suck at bondage…”

Definitely me if that was Taylor Swift…

My wife. “Andy, you’ve posted how many pictures of Hayley Williams to the TLB "Divas" thread?”

Whatever. But I’m not sure I’d want to be known as “sudden” with women…

General Motors in the late 70’s maybe? So now I know how my mom and dad first met.

This is from 1927! She’s cute. Wondering if she's anyone famous from that era? And that title does get right to the point…

A beautiful blonde going for a swim? And me wishing I could join her? What’s so “abnormal” about that?

“Love Doctor.” Him? Well maybe it’s because he’s so tall, young, and handsome… (or maybe he has a 12” cock).

“Film Fun” from 1934. “A Winning Personality.” Yeah, and also a fantastic body and great legs…

Don’t think I could improve on a title like that.

Is the “mystery” how she’s able to survive in the vacuum of space?

Nice shot asshole. Not. My money’s on the guy with the knives…

God. Damn. Fuck. Wow.

She’s thinking “Shit. Did it again... Must learn not to swipe right so soon. But he said he was 6'4" and had abs of steel.”

I hate it when they walk in on me like that when I’m with one of my students.

Speaking of the “Ten Commandments”, how could anything like this be considered risqué? Well, yeah, of course it could, it’s Hollywood… what would you expect?

Filmed almost 30 years before I was born, this was on every Easter that I can remember as a child. Although it more accurately depicts Passover, the plagues on Egypt, and Israel's deliverance. Years later, I would learn that Metallica had written a song about these plagues called “Creeping Death.”

The entire movie is something like 4 or 5 hours long and is both “campy” and impressive for its time. I have not seen it in years but I quickly dicovered it had more than a few “suggestive scenes." Learning at quite an early age what “bondage” meant in a sexual context I couldn't help noticing the movie’s (historically) accurate usage of the word “bondage” in referring to slavery or servitude. However, they seem to go out of their way to mention “bondage” so often that it starts to seem funny after a while. My parents probably never knew why their son was giggling at the dinner table during such a dramatic presentation.

Or why he had to “excuse” himself and go to his room when the “Golden Calf” scene was about to come on.

Full of sweaty, near naked, oiled bodies, I’m surprised this got by the censors over 60 years ago. Far from being a “warning against sin” I would always look forward to this sequence. Especially when the beautiful “slave girl” was tied to the altar of the Golden Calf... "Bind the sacrifice!" I can’t remember how old I was the first time I whacked off to this but to say it was my “favorite” scene would be an understatement.

The other “memorable” bondage scene is a “homoerotic” whipping scene where Vincent Price (almost always the “bad guy” in his movies) had a loincloth clad male slave tied spread eagled as he “teases” him with a whip then begins to torture him (off camera). Of course the slave is rescued as “Moses” (Charlton Heston) shows up in time and kills Vincent Price.

Charlton Heston does not escape “bondage” either as his true identity is discovered and he is bound quite elaborately in chains with his arms tied around a stick behind his back and his wrists and ankles bound. Someone had to know what they were doing. I haven’t seen the movie in years but I’d let Taylor Swift, Miley, or Hayley tie me up like that anytime…

Finally, during the scene where Moses parts the Red Sea, the camera pans to three women who act as if they're coming. Maybe I just have a dirty mind and they are probably just in awe... By the way did you know the sea was "Jell-O"?

(My parents were big Charlton Heston fans. My favorite movie of his is “Ben Hur” for which he won an Academy Award a few years later There is according to several accounts I’ve read, an “implied” sexual relationship between him and his former childhood friend turned mortal enemy, Mesalla. Anyway, in his autobiography, he tells the story of a female extra during the infamous Golden Calf scene, which was very long and hard to film, asking the director “Who do you have to fuck to get off this picture…” )

Wow! Great post Andy!

I can't really remember any one movie that got me excited as a kid but I always loved seeing pretty women in costumes. It started with Beverly Sills

"Batman" may have been the first time I got excited by seeing pretty ladies but I also remember seeing Beverly on "Carol Burnett" or the "Muppet Show" and really liking her. Later I found pictures of her in my parents record and magazine collection which quickly found their way under the mattress. Her Thais costume just blew my mind and I couldn't wait to get under the covers at night with such a temptress

My dad found my stash and asked me if I liked seeing Beverly in her underwear. What could I say?

Glad you liked it. Thanks. But I discovered that, well, maybe someone else has been reading my posts on TLB.

Last night, after she got off her nursing shift, my wife and I were getting ready for bed and out of nowhere she mentions "Easter" coming up and the "Ten Commandments." We've never really talked about it before--at least not the way I did above...

Maybe for Easter I can talk her into role playing the "Golden Calf Sacrifice" scene or something...

(I was asked if either of the "male" bondage scenarios were hot? In this case no, I mean yeah, but not for me. They are too "masculine." Charlton Heston is also a pretty big guy--like 6'3" or 4", and the other actor is John Derek who was known for his beautiful and much younger wives. Usuala Andress, Linda Evans, and Bo Derek. He should be my role model. )

Of course "modern opera" is quite different. These are scenes from a production of "Carmen." All I want to know is do they need a baritone?

(That guy looks like he could use an understudy. All I'm doing is offering my services... )

Definitely marriage material…

It’s not my fault. She’s the one who ordered the Calamari…

Do I get a choice as to which comes first?

Admit it, you would have posted this one too…

Damn, that’s big!

It was uncomfortable as hell in that “snake costume” but I’ll have you know it was working.

Jesus, nobody's posted anything since I put this up last night (see above). Sorry. It was the "Beheaded and Castrated" one wasn't it?

(I did see however that my "Best. Prom. Date. Ever." and future wife has gotten several views so far. Gotta find out who she is... )

Hate to pick on the “Love Doctor” but this guy isn’t exactly what I would have expected. So far the picture has gotten 12 views—more than many of my posts. So maybe that’s the look I should go for? I’m sure my wife would like that… Not. Still trying to figure out his appeal? Maybe he’s super rich or has a huge cock? A great personality? Doesn’t look like it though. He kind of creeps me out.

He looks old enough to be her “dad” or even “granddad.” Also a visit to “Bosley for Men” would not be out of the question. BTW does anyone else think he looks like “Archie Bunker”?

For comparison, I’ve included some pictures of “Dr. Kildare” from the 60’s or 70’s. Richard Chamberlain is more like what I would have had in mind. Maybe 6’2”, young, and handsome. That is Yvette Mimieux who plays a surfer.

Well, keep them coming.

I had no idea "Carmen" was so sexy. I always thought it was about "bullfighters" or something. We learned "Toreador" in 6th grade music class. Damn.

From Wikipedia:

Quote:
Carmen is an opera in four acts by French composer Georges Bizet. The libretto was written by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, based on a novella of the same title by Prosper Mérimée. The opera was first performed by the Opéra-Comique in Paris on 3 March 1875, where its breaking of conventions shocked and scandalized its first audiences.

I don't know the whole story of "Carmen" other than she's a beautiful woman

One of my early experiences was seeing these issues of "Opera News" come in the mail when I was a kid. As soon as I was sure my parents would not miss, they found their way under my mattress

The diva on the cover is Hungarian singer Eva Marton. I thought she was just magnificent and would fantasize about her being a naughty baby sitter

"Don't worry baby, it happens to every guy once in a while."

I see no problem here...

Yeah I can see that. So it's a date?

No reason. Just a very beautiful girl. From the 20's or 30's.

That's the last time we're using Uber. Fucking creeper.

From 1929. You know the "Ph.D." is the one who actually wrote this. No one else could come up with such "bullshit" without really saying anything at all. That takes "years" of "education" and "training."

"Dr." Andy says: I find it hilarious that we are still taught to write that way. Almost 100 years later. OMG! The phrase "in all probability."

Great post! I especially like the top middle one

I remember as kid watching a local TV station this coming on one Saturday afternoon. There was no Frankenstein in the movie but that was okay. There was a werewolf and some vampires. The lady vampire, played by gorgeous actress Aurora De Alba, just blew my mind! Not only was she stunningly beautiful but the movie had a scene where she seduces her victim in what was just about the sexiest thing I had ever seen. Even today I fantasize about being her willing victim!

Thanks. Glad you like it. Aurora is beautiful and very sexy. She can suck my blood anytime. "Horror Movies" are a great topic for this thread. Lots of beautiful women, sex, and bondage. Nothing wrong with that...

Here's a few more movie posters for you. I recognize two of the names right away.

Michael Rennie was a well known actor. He was "Klaatu" in the "Day the Earth Stood Still" and also played St. Peter in "The Robe." He was a calm yet imposing figure at over 6'5".

Karin Dor is probably best known for her role in "You Only Live Twice" one of the James Bond films starring Sean Connery. The scene everyone remembers is where she ties Bond to a chair and threatens him with torture. "This scalpel can remove skin..."

Just heard the sad news this morning that Doris Day had passed away at the age of 97.

Born in 1922, she began her career as a “big band” singer in 1939. One of her biggest hits was “Sentimental Journey.” I don’t know if “Billboard” was around yet but this was a huge hit and would be like having the #1 song on the “Hot 100” and then some. She went on to star in many movies during the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s becoming a Hollywood legend. She was always known for being happy and upbeat. Her beauty and personality made her incredibly popular with men and women alike. Sadly I discovered just today that her first husband had abused her, striking her often and even pointing a gun at her (too bad I can’t go back and abuse him). They eventually divorced, and he committed suicide years later.

She was very active with charities throughout her life and was a big animal rights activist. She is also known for her friendship with Rock Hudson with whom she starred in three movies. Rock is one of the first actors to come out as gay and his public battle with AIDS was well known at the time. He passed away in 1985. Doris was one of the few in Hollywood who was not afraid to befriend and support him. Their friendship continued up until his death.

Personally, I think she was very beautiful and sexy. Way ahead of her time. She was always classy and took advantage of her beauty and talent but in an understated way. Which made her all the more appealing. Doris Day will be missed but never forgotten. RIP

Most definitely I have a “one track mind.” Everything sooner or later gets back to beautiful women… Usually actresses, singers, or models that I have had major crushes on.

Was reading the book “A Life In Error” by James Reason. It discusses the “little things” in complex systems that can go wrong leading to a chain of events that ends in disaster. The Chernobyl nuclear accident of 1986 is one “case study” presented. So is "Three Mile Island." Good reading for anyone involved with technology.

That got me thinking about how many “close calls” we have had regarding nuclear weapons over the years. Especially during the “cold war.” I knew that something had occurred in the early 80’s where a Soviet Commander had correctly decided not to launch a counter strike against the US when his computers indicated what appeared to be a missile launch from inside the United States. He treated the warnings as a false alarm and WWIII was averted.

Wikipedia had this to say:

Quote:
On 26 September 1983, the nuclear early-warning system of the Soviet Union reported the launch of multiple USAF Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missiles from bases in the United States. These missile attack warnings were correctly identified as a false alarm by Stanislav Yevgrafovich Petrov, an officer of the Soviet Air Defence Forces. This decision is seen as having prevented a retaliatory nuclear attack based on erroneous data on the United States and its NATO allies, which would have resulted in an immediate and irrevocable escalation of the cold-war stalemate to a full-scale nuclear war. Investigation of the satellite warning system later confirmed that the system had malfunctioned.
Of course this made me think of the movie “War Games” and that in turn made me think of Ally Sheedy. She and Matthew Broderick were both born in 1962 so they are actually 20 or 21 here. I am most familiar with Ally from this movie but she seems like my type. She’s really cute. She could come over to my place and start WWIII with me anytime

Ally has one child, who was born female in 1994, but now identifies as male and goes by the name Beckett. She is of course a strong supporter of transgender advocacy.

Since this is a “retro” thread I though it might be fun to look back 50 years… To 1969! Today is May 17, 2019. I tried to find things that happened in May for comparison. Does it bring back memories for anyone? Or if you weren’t around yet, what do you think of their world? Would you want to have lived back then?

Me, I’d really like the women, cars, and music. Some of the other stuff not so much. Computers and early “technology” would have sucked compared to now for example. No “smartphones.” No "wi-fi." No "Starbucks." No "Amazon." And no "4K Ultra HD" TV's. And I’m not into drugs.

Joni Mitchell Although I’m from a totally different musical era, she is a legend. Have (older) friends that have met her. And I think she’s really cute as well.

Marlo Thomas Very popular show of the time. But I have never seen it, not even in repeats. I can see there’s a reason they called it “That Girl.” However, my favorite “celeb crush” from the 60’s is Sharon Tate . I think she’s one of the most beautiful women that has ever lived. I’d rank her right up there with my current favorites. And from all accounts I’ve read, a sweet person. We all know what happened that night. Wish I could have been there to stop it. But you already knew that. Have been working on a tribute to her that I’ll post later this summer in the “Divas” thread.

You mean I could’ve seen Led Zeppelin on this night (as an "added attraction" WTF?) for $2.50 USD. In Ohio? That's just a short drive from here. Awesome!

Of course I would have taken my date to see Led Zeppelin in this. A ’69 Chevelle SS 396. Dark green just like my uncle’s. This is pretty much the same car I learned to drive a “stick” in and took Stephanie for a ride in. His is not in as good of shape as this one but it’s mine one day.

Apollo 10. The “dress rehearsal” for the moon landing in July. They separated from the command module and descended to within 50,000 feet of the moon’s surface. The “moon lander” was called “Snoopy” after the dog. The launch date was May 18, 1969.

Nixon was President from 1969 until he resigned in 1974. The United States was deeply involved in the Vietnam War in 1969. This is a clip of Nixon from May 14 addressing the nation. There’s also a clip of Nixon on “Laugh In” saying “Sock It To Me” (a phrase of the time, sort of like “groovy”). Go find it on YouTube.
