Thumbs up Money

As a male admirer, I cannot imagine the costs involved with keeping all of those beautiful TS women as beautiful as they are.

I wonder about the costs for all of the medical and cosmetics along with whatever else is involved.

The truth is that the costs for women who are in the entertainment, news, modeling, porn industries must be exceedingly high, but I would think that it is a drop in the bucket when compared to the gorgeous TS women.

I am curious about it.

Cost of transition
This isn't cheep.
Below are my past and ongoing expenses. And forthcoming ones.
- Medication / hormones: ?300 (I get them on the NHS now)
- Psychiatry: ?600
- Laser hair removal(face): ?3500
- Gender Counseling: ?1400
- Face Feminisation Surgery FFS: ?23,000 (inc. travel and accommodation)
- Eventual Sex Reassignment Surgery SRS: ?10,000 (inc. travel and accommodation)
- Breast augmentation: ?3000-5,000
- Misc (eg. new wardrobe): ?4,000

In total my transition will cost well in excess of ?50,000.

Oh and a few other downsides:
suicide rates are much higher for ts than the general population
Accessing health care
insurance higher or unavailable
Accessing housing. Prejudice
job market restricted, again prejudice
Oh and in case you lot didn't know
most "Day-1 women" do not look like models, porn stars, dream fantasy dates. so, by extrapolation, most transsexual women look like the majority of "Day-1 women" ie. NOTHING AT ALL LIKE THE FANTASY.

I got lucky & never faced any of the things I list, above.
But I've friends & acquaintances who have
I work successfully in in Adult sex industry.
My looks are mainly genetics & luck.
If I knew my appearance would be like the majority of women, then my career path would have to be very different.
But I absolutely would have transitioned.....Its so much easier not having to fake being a man.

And it should be noted that Jodie's expenses are incurred within a healthcare system that covers some of the costs, which isn't the case everywhere.

In sweden it is too, I had my hormone threatments and breast/facial surgery done within the healthcare system otherwise my transitition would never been done, I had made some smaller surgey on my own expence though, like lip and nose surgery.

The big word is some
The availability of services varies hugely, from region to region.

Oh, while I could have applied to get things through the NHS for free
(to me), somebody pays for this stuff and that person is the tax payer.

I look on the NHS services as an emergency facility
and also a safety net to provide {in an arbitrary and inconsistent way}
free essential medical services {such as trans related things}
to those unable to fund things themselves.

Consequently, I paid for everything privately.
That explains why
my Mazda MX-5 MkII, is eleven years old
and my Honda Fireblade RRV, is fourteen years old.

Me? I'm a self-made woman.

At least you have that "emergency facility" and "safety net" ... even if arbitrary and inconsistent. That was, of course, my point. It's probably best made in a different thread, but you already knew that. Right, Jodie?

Yep, if you own your home and have equity and affordability.
Oh. I score 0 out of 3!

But it's always doable if you have the drive.

Arrow

This is a GREAT point about access to health care. JodieT, are you from Sweden or England ??
Being from the U.S., I see that when JodieT was referring to "?", is that a British pound or the Euro ?
I know that currently when the "?" is compared to the U.S. dollar, that the value of the dollar keeps decreasing in value, as I believe it will continue to do.
The other item is the cruel, Corporate dollar motivated U.S. health care system, which gets worse every day.
Personally, I have to find a new personal physician because he is moving to another state, since the medical group he is with has cut the salary of the doctors in the group. He is the sixth one and the medical group is looking to replace the doctors who are leaving with non-doctors, "aides", "assistants" and nurse practitioners.

Thanks,

Jon
