Default Should we start a memorial thread?

I was just checking out "Turkish Shemales" in the freebies area, and read that another girl, "Cindy" had passed away. (no idea how recently)
Off the top of my head I can think of at least two more girls, Anna Alexandre and Camilla Castro who also have died.
I am wondering if we should start a memorial thread or something.
Any thoughts?

Well, why not? Maybe we can ask Google to map them which seems to be their new clue...

No, seriously, if we have personal friends who died, I guess we can share it, as I shared it when my Keke died recently. And I got a very loving and kind respons from here.

But to "institutionalize" in a memorial thread form the death of transsexuals???

Maybe your idea is good, it just strikes me as a little weird...

But then again why not, if its purpose can be to cast light over some of the unfair reasons why the death rate among trans*women seems to be sadly higher than among other folks.

What do you think?

For the record, Google is "mapping" certain things simply because it's part of their Google Earth Outreach program.
The point of the program is stated very clearly on its homepage (quote):

You want to change the world. We want to help.

Google Earth Outreach gives non-profits and public benefit organizations the knowledge and resources they need to visualize their cause and tell their story in Google Earth & Maps to the hundreds of millions of people who use them.

http://earth.google.com/outreach/index.html

The bottom line: this project makes good business sense for Google. They get to push Google Earth as a desktop application, so more people will adopt it and it can become THE mapping standard online...meanwhile people who have a particular cause to promote get an fanciful outlet to make their case. Plus, it makes gathering information more interactive, which means you stand a better chance of holding a person's interest long enough for them to actually LEARN something. So, all in all, I think this is a good thing since it serves a "greater good" in the end.

Maybe you need to look at it from a different perspective, Hank. Think of it this way: look at the Angie Zapata case and an issue that our own Bionca has raised in the past, much to her credit -- namely violence against TS women, the amount of it that goes on, and the way that justice has often been denied. So, just as an example, if you created a Google Map that showed the different cases and their legal outcomes, going back to my point above, you'd now have a VISUAL representation of the country (or the world) that literally showed just how many incidents had occurred (not to mention you could then click on something to get additional details to further educate yourself).

Personally, I think the strongest way to often make a case is to show people just HOW MUCH something is occurring, so it can't be denied.

I was thinking it might seem a little wierd,
But since there are several posts like that already here in different threads, I guess my thought was to perhaps put them together in one place, and have a spot for similar posts in the future.
It was only a thought...
