Is it truly "mystifying"? How would you feel if you were born a woman with male genitalia? Until you begin to think like that -- i.e., put yourself in the shoes of another -- you will continue to subvert the self-determination of others, even if only in the form of a seemingly harmless post on this site.

You put what you desire -- "her female beauty coupled with external genitalia" -- ahead of Mia's desire to be physically the woman that she wants to be.

It's one thing for us to desire women with cocks, but to impose that on those women and put what we desire above how they get to live their lives is the height of insensitivity and is just wrong.

It's a difficult concept to understand. It's obvious some of you guys will never "get it". Not all T-girls have the same attitude about their body parts. This is a VERY informative site about SRS, including photos and graphics. If your squeamish about surgeries you might want to bypass it. However, it is amazing how well modern surgical techniques can create a beautiful female genitalia from a male genitalia.

SRS is one of those topics that is very hard to discuss. Precisely because the question is framed in such a way that it requires an answer to "Why". "Why do you need to change your body?" "Why can't you be happy with what you have?" "Why is is bad to be a woman with a penis?"

The reason is so deeply personal, and language so fantastically poor as to render these questions nearly unanswerable. You see, to answer the questions the woman may need to express things that aren't exactly true, but close enough to get the point across. For example:

"I always had a feeling of disconnect to my body" - In my experience, this is true to an extent, but not totally true as it erases the points where I don't feel disconnected. It also over-simplifies most trans women's relationships with their bodies and particularly our genitalia into a cookie-cutter "woman trapped in a man's body" that isn't a true feeling for many of us.

There are also the many many simple practical reasons to have SRS. Want to go swimming or run a marathon? It's much easier if you don't have to worry about hiding a penis. Want to have your government records all match up with how people see you? Most places require SRS to change records. Want to have a chance at meeting a guy, exchanging numbers, having a date, and slowly organically developing a relationship? Hard to do when you are either meeting guys who view your life as what happens around their personal favorite fetish or have to have a risky conversation with a guy who didn't know.

The reasons for SRS are as many as the women who have it. The reasons not to have SRS are just as valid and just as varied. SRS can be as dangerous as any major surgical procedure. There are, however, many doctors who have spent many years doing this operation, so the dangers are less than they were even 10 years ago and the results are much better.

When I started the thread, I was hoping trans-women would contribute to it. As men, we are pretty clueless as to the thoughts and feelings of trans-women. Not only that, the porn industry presents a highly distorted view of the sexual side of trans-women. We need to be reminded that trans-women in the real world are beautiful intelligent human beings while we indulge ourselves in the fantasy world of sexual pleasures.

Yup says on her personal page that she is getting GRS in February. I wish her luck and hope she is happy with the change. I have to admit I am a little sad about the news cause she is actually one of my favorites but respect her decision and hope it works out

I am not sure we are ALL clueless. I treat tran women as women with my day to day dealings with them... never will hear the word tgirl or shemale or tranny out of my mouth... just girl and women etc.... Let's face it, they believe they are women and I respect that, it does not surprise me in the least if they want to go ahead with the surgery and be more complete, makes total sense.... some need this to help feel like the girl they always believe they are and some don't need the surgery to achieve this.

Look at it this way, you being a man, you feeling like a man, you know you are a man, then you look down and see a vagina.. wouldn't you want your penis back!

Put on the other pair of shoes, you are a women, you know you are a women, you feel like a women, you look down and see a penis... that has got to be hard to deal with for many (not all)
