It's good to see acceptance making progress, however slowly.

Below is a quote from the news story:

Quote:
Authorities are treating the incident as an aggravated assault but said it is too early to say for sure whether the attack was a hate crime.
Aggravated assault? How about murder or manslaughter at the very least?

Default Transgender woman live-tweets her expulsion from Orlando airport

One more reason to hate the TSA.

Quote:
Shadi Petosky, a transgender woman, was detained unexpectedly at the Orlando airport on Monday after the TSA allegedly decided that her genitalia didn't match up to their (mis)perceptions about gender.
Gee, I wasn't aware transgender people were considered a potential threat to national security.

This treatment by TSA was wrong... they need to be severely reprimanded, fined even jailed for this inhumane treatment....

"Brazilian Drag Activists Use Dodgeball to Discuss Homophobia and Transphobia"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sean-o...b_8281418.html

Quote:
As the third Gaymada event gets underway this week, organizers have put out an open invitation for anyone to come and watch, play and talk about diversity.

A spokesperson at Toda Deseo, a collective of actors and art activists behind the event, who work with a focus on on issues related to Trans* people, explained, "It is a simple way to discuss sexual diversity, homophobia and transphobia." Indeed the results have been nothing short of a beautiful display of fun and dazzling community spirit.
Sounds like a great way to address a very serious issue!

Quote:
Sadness surrounded a Midtown street corner on Monday where less than 24 hours earlier, an angry mob savagely beat and fatally shot two people, including a transgender woman.
“I don’t know what to do,” said Leola Thompson, the mother of Shante Thompson, one of the two victims. “I just want him back. I know he’s not coming back. But I just want him back.”
According to police, Shante and her friend Willie Sims were brutally attacked by as many as eight suspects.
“Wherever you saw me, you saw him,” said Shante’s former roommate Patrick Riggins, who saw it all happen. He said Sims took a bullet for Shante and then the attack moved across the street.
“As they backed up here, they literally barricaded them to a car, hitting them with pipes,” said Riggins. “It was just evil. Everything that was seen by me was literally evil.”
Other witnesses said some of the attackers were also transgender and believed they targeted Shante out of jealousy.
“We need to come together and get past this black on black and black hating on black,” said another transgender woman.
You know, sometimes I just loathe humanity.

Women are now getting harassed in bathrooms because of anti-transgender hysteria
Quote:
It's official: The furor around transgender people in bathrooms is causing people to harass women in restrooms.
But it's not men pretending to be women doing the harassing. Instead, the harassment is coming from people who mistake a cisgender (non-trans) woman for a man or trans woman — and then try to kick the woman out of the bathroom.
[...]
This is, on top of plain awful, ironic. It is the kind of conflict those who oppose letting trans people use the bathroom for their gender identity supposedly wanted to prevent.
Great. Transphobia in a box with a side order of misogyny. I knew these dumbass bathroom ordinances would cause nothing but trouble, but I never imagined it would affect ciswomen as well!

This whole bathroom thing is nothing more than politics, The trans community is just another minority group liberals are hijacking to beat republicans over the head with.

We have been using the restroom for the better part of the countries lifespan only now it's an issue. I find it vulgar and distasteful, we aren't being championed by the left & the media. we are being exploited & mocked out of one side of the mouth while all this talk of civil rights & equality.

All this is doing is making us less equal. At this point if your still with me, you may be asking "what do the have to gain from all this?" well I'll tell you, this is about expanding the reach & power of federal government. That's the main reason for this whole bathroom debate.

Getting behind the leftists on this isn't a path to main stream trans equality, it's a path to further exclusion & continued spectacle in the public eye. While it's funny to see CIS women ejected from bathrooms over mistaken gender identity none of this is helping.

The only real path to acceptance & equality is to increase our numbers. That's the only way. The way to do that is to be as supportive as you can to those early transitioning & curious about taking that step, being who they are. We make up less than 1% of a 3% non "straight" population of the U.S. (according to the CDC) the only reason that number isn't bigger can be summed up in one word "fear".

Thanks for reading this whole thing if you did, I know it's a small novel, sorry about that folks.

This cute child with long blonde hair and a dress would grow up to be one of the most well known leaders in world history. The picture was taken around 1884. The attire was quite typical for young boys and girls back then. Our more "rigid" ideas of gender would not appear until later in the 20th century.

Give up? You can find the answer here:

This was sad news for those of us who live in the Indianapolis area. There has been much speculation on whether its closing was related to the events in Orlando or not:

My heart goes out to everyone who was affected by the tragedy in Orlando. Words cannot begin to express what I have been feeling for the past week.

This is the kind of shit that makes me sick. Especially the following: "In his guilty plea to the hate crime on December 21, he admitted to lying about the circumstances surrounding her death. He would not have killed Williamson if she was not transgender, he said."

Default Mayors Against LGBT Discrimination

Was happy to see that Indianapolis's Mayor Joseph Hogsett is part of the coalition. Read about it Here.

(Mayor Hogsett visits our university frequently. I got to meet him last Fall at a football game. He visited our "tailgater." Seems like a pretty cool guy. After shaking hands and introducing myself, he wanted to know all about the Market Research and Analysis class that I teach. I did get a chance to tell him that I was an advisor to LGBT students. Things have been better in Indy lately. )

Thought this would be interesting especially for those who like their women strong and muscular.

As many of you know I am from Michigan originally, played college football, and worked out a lot. I was familiar with Matt ("Kroc") and have friends who knew him. They had nothing but great stuff to say about him.

I wish Janae nothing but the best in her new life.

https://www.muscleandfitness.com/ath...lievable-story

Quote:
With estrogen therapy, she expects to drop from 240 pounds down to 160. At 42 years old, that would mean saying goodbye to powerlifting and bodybuilding forever, though she says she won’t miss it. Once she’s lost the weight, she’d like to compete in triathlons or mountain biking. However, losing physical strength is a real, practical issue that has held her back. Janae has attempted five transitions in the past eight years. Each time, she underwent estrogen therapy, lost 40 to 50 pounds, then bailed on the process. She learned that when she’s not as massive, men stop deferring to her and she loses the peace of mind of being fully capable of protecting herself. Anti-transgender violence is alarmingly common and a major concern for Janae or any other transgender person. According to the Human Rights Campaign, 17 transgender people have been murdered in 2015 in the U.S. as of this writing. More than once, she’s feared physical violence when she was out at night dressed as Janae.

“I was at a club a few months ago, and five guys followed me to my car,” she says. “They slowed down when they got close. The only thing that stopped them was how big I was.”
(Sadly the comments are mostly ignorant and the quoted scenario happens far too often... Fucking assholes. )

Chloe Anderson played volleyball for Santa Ana College and the University of California, Santa Cruz.

https://www.ocregister.com/2015/06/2...e-already-was/

There's another article on Chloe that goes into some of the hardships she encountered (including ignorant haters) while competing at UCSC. Playing any sport at that level is extremely difficult. Adding assholes to the mix doesn't help.

Chloe is a winner. She will be successful and make a difference in this world no matter what she does.

This post on Chloe should have stayed at the top of the front page. It's my fault for posting something stupid that moved it off. Wasn't thinking. Too bad we don't have the ability to delete old posts. I would get rid of many of mine.

Default "Straight Pride" March?

Many celebrities are coming out to oppose the planned "Straight Pride" march intended to be a response to the traditional "Gay Pride" events held in June. Here are a couple of the better responses:

Brad Pitt (Cant' believe he's 55! That means he was “Born Before 1985.” I’ve got an Esquire Magazine sitting on my desk right now with him on the cover. Motherfuckers, try telling him he looks like an “84 year old man” like in all the fake ads you promote for Home Refinancing, AARP, Stair Lifts, Viagra, or whatever. ).

Mr. Pitt requested that his name and picture be removed from all materials the group behind the misguided “Straight Pride” march were distributing to promote their event. The group had used his image without his permission. The actor made clear he does not support anything about the “Straight Pride” movement. Damn, I’m gonna watch Fight Club later.

Chris Evans also called out the group earlier this week on Twitter after three men in Boston promoted their own parade.

Evans, 37, tweeted: “Wow, the number gay/straight pride parade false equivalencies are disappointing. For those who don’t understand the difference, see below. Instead of going immediately to anger (which is actually just fear of what you don’t understand) take a moment to search for empathy and growth.”

Evans continued his condemnation towards “straight pride” events on Twitter by sharing a post from author James Bell about how misguided the gatherings are:

“There’s nothing I’ve ever had to fight for, or struggle against because I’m straight,” Bell wrote in the post Evans urged his followers to read. “And therefore, there isn’t any reason to take pride in it. Grateful for the privileges I get? Sure. But pride? I don’t see it. What I do see is that this parade is misnamed. It’s not a ‘Straight Pride Parade.’ It should be called a ‘I’m a homophobic piece of shit‘ parade.”

Don’t expect to see me marching in it. While I’m married and consider myself “straight” (what exactly is “straight” anyway?) my past relationships have included those with transwomen and I’m attracted to cute feminine guys. I’m sure the organizers of this event wouldn’t consider that “straight.”

I oppose this march for all of the reasons the others do. And what an insult to my LGBT friends!!! Maybe the organizers need to attend a Transgender Day of Remembrance and sit through a reading of all the victims of violence and details of what happened to them? There have been three transwomen brutally murdered in Texas just recently.

This is Transgender Awareness Week. November 20 is typically the Day of Remembrance. It has always been hard to find a ceremony in the Indianapolis area. The first TDOR I went to was way back in 2009. While there has been progress in public awareness and acceptance, I'm not sure things have gotten better over 10 years regarding violence and discrimination. At least in the United States, it may actually be worse for some...

I'll be having a get together at my house next Wednesday.

For those who are still interested, here is an article I found on CNN this morning. Featuring many who have made a difference. There is a lot to feel good about:

Rodrigo Alves, long known as the “Human Ken Doll,” has come out as transgender according a January 7, 2020 article by the "Washington Blade."

Alves has said she prefers the name "Roddy" and plans to undergo addtional surgery this year.

https://www.washingtonblade.com/2020...-out-as-trans/

From the "New York Post":

Quote:
“I’m known as Ken but inside I’ve always felt like Barbie,” said Alves. “I finally feel like the real me. Glamorous, beautiful and feminine.”

“For years I tried to live my life as a man. I had a fake six-pack put in, I had fake muscles in my arms, but I was lying to myself,” she says. “I’m a woman and have always had a feminine brain. Now my body matches my mind.”

She’s been enjoying the male attention her new female looks get her, and is excited to finish her transformation with gender reassignment surgery.

“I will have a penile inversion and my testicles will be removed. That will be the final step,” says the former flight attendant. “Before that I’m having silicone breast implants. I’ll be able to wear dresses that show my cleavage and look sexy. I’m very excited.”

Alves realized she wanted to transition during a photo shoot last year, she says, but she’s long been aware of certain feminine tendencies.

“Growing up, I was very feminine and used to play with dolls and wear my mum’s dresses and heels,” she says, adding that she had breasts as a kid, due to her body producing more estrogen than most males.

“Within a month I was diagnosed with gender dysmorphic disorder and given the option to start the *appropriate medication to transition,” she says. “Before, people looked at me because I looked very androgynous and weird for a man. Now I hope they are looking because they think I am a beautiful woman.”
Best wishes Roddy!
