i think i have "crabs"
ok so im rather freaked out.
Last week i had these itches in my pubic area that could not let me sleep and had a couple of sleepless nights. I mean i did trim myself a bit after and it did not itch much after I was able to sleep. still i think i have crabs because i think i saw a small white thing in that area and i think it was a crab. Still i shaved and there is no redness the itching has gone down.( i think i the itching now is form the hairs growing back) Still, i have to question it because i have never had sex before( as in penetrating) and the last oral was back in november checked myself three months later for std's and it was all negative. Two months ago i just touched no sucking nor oral at all. could it be that? i mean its been two months does it take this long for it to develop. IF you guys think it is crabs then What do i do now? i hear there is an over the counter treatment i can get in pharmacies is this true? sorry for being a paranoid SOB.

Are you itching in other places? It could also be Scabies (sp?) - treated with a topical cream rather than shampoo.

I needed long to find out what crabs are. I thought of the hard shelled animals with claws. But they were a bit big to stay unseen in your pubs.
If its crab lice, don't worry, they are not dangerous, just bothering. There are insecticides like Pyrethrum to get rid of them. Most chemical have adverse effects. The cheapest and a harmless way would be to shave your pubs and comparable hair (underarm hair, and maybe body hair). If there is no hair they can grab, they can't stay on your body (Head hair is usually to thin for them). They don't life long without human contact (about a day), but changing and hot washing of clothes, bedclothes and towels may help. Crab lice like it warm and wet. If its crab lice, you would usually see your skin colours blue or red, and could possibly see the animals themselves. I would go to a doctor, but I don't know much about the U.S. health system. |

This is intended to make you laugh.
Get ahold of the "Dangerous Catch" producers, they may want to film a segment. |

well i went to see a doctor and apparently it is and i got some chemical lotion and use it once and it should be gone.i ddi clean all my bed sheets and clothes used so by tomorrow they should be gone hopefully. i was really scared about them being dangerous but puzzled since i have never had sex. but it seems it will all be ok. i have heard jokes similar to that before. funny until you actually get the crab.

Crab lice are highly specialized on humans. You don't find them other where. The lice on plants have nothing to do with them. Crab lice are transmitted from human to human, sex is not necessary.
Crab lice stay in every hair that has the right condition. Warm, wet from sweat, and thick close by hair. The best places are the pubs and underarm hair, but if someone is hairy enough or the conditions at pub get worse they can stay on other regions. Even an excellent hygienic doesn't help against them. You can wash you as often as you want, they will stay. It is nearly impossible to drown them or get them out of the hair without killing them (or cut them with the hair out). |

Advice priority:
1. Doctors 2. Other medical practicioners 3. Med students 4. Random strangers on the Internet. Seriously, dude, if you're that worried, get checked out. |
