& I also don't understand why you think the reasons you would name your child are the same reasons others would name their child. Everyone has their own beliefs, points of view & reasons for doing things. I wouldn't profess to know why anyone else behaves as they do (thats actually why asked you about your opinions on these names). To hear you say it, it seems everyone (or at least those with Irish names) is an idiot, can't think for themselves, & no doubt "he will end up being another one of those shaggy, ass-hugger jeans wearing emo kids that listen to My Chemical Romance or Green Day who has zero self-respect for himself and constantly cries for the approval for others".

I was attempting to understand your point of view, but now that its becoming clearer, I think I'll leave it alone. I thought you were being funny, but didn't laugh. Maybe I just don't get the "Angry Postman"?

Anyway, best wishes & sorry for taking up all this space in your thread...oldawg
I wasn't bagging on the history or meanings of the names or anything like that. I was saying that most of the people who name their kids these names have no understanding of said history of the name. They just do it because they cannot think higher than "It sounds cute" and "It's a wonderful baby name" or they are trying to compete with other mothers who have named their kids something similar. You are naming a future adult, not a child.

If you are going to name someone, at least have it relevant to your family ancestry or name them after someone famous who accomplished something. What these airhead mothers are doing is equivalent to naming an African kid Xon Xiou or naming a Norwegian kid Ibeamaka. It just looks retarded without a context behind it. Seamus and Aiden are perfect names provided he has some strong Irish ancestry and turns out to be a giant ginger bastard otherwise it just looks goofy when your kid cannot live up to his name. That is like naming your kid Thor and then he ends up being a scrawny wuss.

Like I said, naming someone should be thoughtful and show deeper understanding instead of the "It's cute" mentality of most mothers today.

PS: I would name my kid a respectable Spanish name as part of my ancestry is Spanish/Azteca, or a respectable Anglo name. Something that has meaning like Andrew(For Andrew Jackson: One of our greatest presidents) or Manuel(For Manuel Mondragon: Inventor of the worlds first practical self-loading rifle.)
