Androcur which basically chemically castrates you during transition, has horrid side effects on the liver and blood pressure. Castration is a simple alternative.
A lot of us (you don't want to hear this some people) actually want full SRS and post castration (orchidectomy) we've got limited time before the shrunken scrotum becomes too small to fashion decent labia with.
Personally it's a mental thing - it is a start, a good start on getting rid of bits that don't belong on my body.
