Victorious ancient warriors found it the ultimate act to subdue their male adversaries through this act, it comes from the domination side associated with masculinity. I think its part of the genes of a male to want to have dominance over others, even other males!!!
For the most part religion and law were there to inhibit such behavior, however, since its return as a voluntary act, sackless is probably going to be appealing to men as well as women who love domination.
