Default Sydney Mardi Gras

On 4th March the Sydney Australia Mardi Gras took place. I have to admit I have never attended the parade but each year have watched the event on TV.

This year it was disappointing and uninteresting, because the organisers have run out of new ideas and this resulted in a boring repeat of the previous years.

The TV commentary far too sexual than descriptive and was crude. The theme of Gay rights and same sex marriage missed the opportunity to get public support because of the crude presentation of sexual activity rather than dealing with marriage equality.

I will attract a lot of denigrating comments for this, but seriously, this was not the time nor place to deal with crude sex for sex sake when there was a chance to win votes from a general public on the serious topic of marriage for same sex couples and gay rights.

When there are so many beautiful looking transvestites why would you invite a bearded transvestite singer to be the main VIP attraction? Her float in the parade was perhaps the plainest on show.

I suggest the organisers in Sydney should go to Rio and see how a real carnival is organised without the risk of offending spectators. Perhaps a lot of spectators enjoyed the parade, but I did not. For me it lacked class and tight organisation.
