He’s got two champagne glasses so I assume she’s his date. And if he’s surprised by what he sees then we can assume they’ve never been intimate. What kind of guy walks in on his date when she’s in the bathroom? Maybe he’s a creeper? Or am I reading too much into it?

By the way, my “ex” and I almost bought a house with black toilets. My guess is the bright lights are so you don’t “miss.”
