Fans of LOST?

Are there any people that follow the television show Lost? It's final season started running this week, and I'm really excited to see how they conclude everything.

Me too , it may be the last season of Lost but a spinoff could develop afterwards.

ila 02-04-2010 04:57 PM

I don't watch the show, but from what I understand from reading the entertainment section in the paper, the show is quite popular. So I can see that a spinoff is quite plausible. I'm also sure that the complete series will go into reruns starting within the year. If there is no spinoff then I wouldn't be surprised if the show will be continued again at a later date (possibly within 2 years). Remember folks, you read it here first. :)

I don't watch this show, but from what I've read about the final season, you should prepare yourself to be royally pissed off!

*peeks in thread and sees no Spoilers*

I am a little behind in my Lost viewing. I own Seasons 1-5 on DVD and I am catching up before watching Season 6(which I am taping when it is on). I have watched Season 1 and Season 2 before, but started over so as not to miss any "clues" I may have forgotten about or missed my first time through.

So far I have watched Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, and am 6 episodes into Season 4(weird season so far!). After Season 4 I will be watching Season 5(The Dharma Initiation Kit version....very COOL!) and then I can watch the final season.

I am trying like you wouldn't believe to NOT be spoiled. I am not reading any newspaper articles and trying to avoid threads that may have spoilers(which this one did not thank goodness). I have been spoiled by stupid newspaper articles stating that a "character dies in Sopranos" and then proceeds to show a picture of the actor that bites it. Of course, I am then spoiled without even having read the article(which I would have avoided)! That pisses me off. Stupid idiotic writer.:censored:

I hope this season rocks. My parents saw the first episode and said it was good.

The season 6 start! YES YES YES

I finished watching the series finale about ten minutes ago. I must admit that I am a little let down by it. Six seasons of mysteries and it all led to that?

Still, finale let down notwithstanding, I loved the series for the most part. It just won't be the same now that I no longer have any new episodes to watch, as I honestly don't think that there will be another series with quite the emotional magnitude and character development ever again. I hope I'm wrong(as I would love to see another magical series like Lost), but I think it's like trying to catch lightning in a bottle...twice.

I was floored by the series finale. I think the first time I cried was when Sun and Jin flashed back and had their memories of being on the island. There were several more points where I cried...Tears of both sadness and joy. It was a very emotional ride for me. But I can't believe the show is over. There is no more LOST to ever look forward to. :(

Kate looked gorgeous in the black dress. The finale was sad, and there were still questions unanswered, but I enjoyed it. Will be buying the blu rays in August.

Here are the scenes that hit me the most.

1. The Sun/Jin scene that you mentioned(how sad is it that Jin never even got to see his daughter in the "main" reality?:(). Also, the actual scene in the earlier episode where Jin and Sun held each other's hand in the sub before they finally drowned.

2. When Jack passed away in the final scene, in the exact same spot where he first awoke in the Pilot. Instead of Vincent licking his cheek and Jack waking up and opening his eyes, in the final scene Vincent licks his cheek and then Jack closes his eyes forever.:(

3. Claire giving birth to Aaron and then seeing Charlie for who he truly was, and they could have the moment that was robbed from them on the Island.

4. Hurley realizing that Jack was passing on the mantle of Protector to him, and that Jack wasn't going to be back to reclaim it.

5. Jack and Kate saying "I love you." to each other, and Jack remaining silent when Kate asks if she will see him again.

6. Juliet and Sawyer being reunited at last.

7. Ben being truly remourseful for what he did to Locke rather than pretending like he did before. I think at that moment it showed that he truly was a changed man(for the better).

8. Sayid and Shannon kissing in the alleyway and remembering their lost love.

Being a fellow, I will say that I did not cry at all during the finale. I did, however, find some specks of dust getting into my eyes from time to time that caused my eyes to tear up. Darn dust...:innocent:

The main reason that I was disappointed with the finale is that it did not go in the direction that I had mapped out in my mind before watching it. I had hoped that rather than being Purgatory, it really was an Alternate reality and that they would be merged with the main reality. Therefore, Locke would be restored into his body(healed both of spirit and body) and all of the ones that had passed on would be restored again on the Island.

I do take some solace in the fact that they were all together at the end, and that they would be taking the journey to their next destination together.:)

I highly doubt ABC will let go off that "Lost" money.

I predict not one but 2 spinoffs ....
1. The Dharma Initiative - A prequel series focusing on the Dharma Initiative and their time on the island before the time traveling "Lost" group arrives

2. The Island - Prequel about the Island itself and it's protectors or they could continue w/ Hurley and Ben and watch as Hurley becomes more confident w/ his new powers.

GRH 05-29-2010 10:09 PM

I hope they don't try to milk that cash cow dry. I'm content with where the series left us.

rockabilly 05-29-2010 10:32 PM

True .... but "LOST" was about the survivors of flight 815 and what they did on the Island.

Theirs lots of room left to expand on the mythology of the island and not diminish the story told during the Lost series.

A series of novels could also work , as long as they get a great writer and not set them during the tv show time period.

tslust 05-29-2010 10:36 PM

I was never really able to get into Lost.

It made you lost?;):p

In all seriousness, Lost is not everyone's cup of tea. I have a friend that was lent the first two seasons on DVD. He told me today(as I was purchasing comics in his shoppe(;))) that he found Season 1 to be a tad boring as there was too much character development. I told him that Season 2 got better(at least once Michael stops yelling out "Walt! Walt! Waaaaaaalllltttt!" every minute or so). I loved the (w)hole Hatch sub-plot and that made Season 2 my favourite of them all.

As Comic Book Guy is wont to say..."Michael? Worst Lost character......ever!"
