I have a story but it's not about ghosts.

Maggie had been blind since she was 10 but she never let it hold her back , she learned to cope w/ the situation and lead a fairly normal if routine life. She learned brail and got a seeing eye dog as a companion even taking classes at the local university.

Maggie had memorized the layout of her small apartment and could navigate it w/o her dog or assistance of any kind.

One day as Maggie was leaving for class Max her dog barked to alert her , It was a campus cop who told her to be careful and stay w/ groups because a suspected rapist/serial killer had escaped police custody the night before and was at large in the area. Maggie assured him that she'd be fine w/ Max and went on her way. She returned that night and as she went inside her apartment Max licked her hand and ran towards the kitchen , it had been raining and his fur was wet and smelly.

Maggie heard Max whine and thought he must be hungry so she put his food out and called him ... no reply ... she called him again then felt his damp fur and warm tongue on her leg. "Eat up Max" she pat his head and went to shower and put her nightgown on.

She heard Max pant as she dryed off and slipped into the gown , then she went to bed. She had her arm dangling over the bed and felt Max lick it , "Ok you can sleep beside me." she felt Max climb beside her then lick her again ....

Maggie had missed her morning and afternoon classes , her friends and teachers were worried. The police knocked her door down and searched her apartment , they found Maggie on her bed naked and throat cut ear to ear , her dog Max was found under her bed w/ his throat cut as well and written in blood on the wall behind her headboard "People can lick too"

One story that I like. (As it was told to me.)

During the filming of the movie Gettysburg, after shooting the Little Round Top sequence, one of the reenactors climbed to the top of the hill to have a look over that section of the battlefield. As he sat there a fog, from Plum Run, started to creep its way up the hill. A tired, slightly dishelved Yankee came walking up out of the fog and sat next to the man. The two sat there in silence for some time. The reenactor looked the other guy over and was silently impressed with his uniform. It was 100% correct, right button's, 20th Maine emblem on his hat, correct Corps patch and Division color. At last the spoke Yankee , "It was a tough fight today."

The reenactor replied, "Yeah it was." And then added, "It liiks like they'll hit us again tomottow."

The Yankee said, "Yes, I believe the will." After a short pause he asked, "How are you fixed for cartridges?"

The reenactor said, "I'm tunning low."

The Yankee reached out his hand, "Here, take these. And make them count." Then he said, "I have to get back." Then he got up and walked back down the hill. The reenactor looked over the bundle that the man had just given him. The attention to the slightest detail was just amazing. He stuffed them into his haversack.

When he got home he took the bundle out again for a closer look. It had the correct arsenal lable and the whole nine yards. He untied the string and saw the 20 cartridges, with 20 caps rolled up in paper like how it was supposed to be. Then he noticed that all of the cartridges had a lead ball in them. He became convinced that either he had met the most authentic reenactor ever or he had an encounter with a ghost.

Spooky tale.

Mine was a variation on an Urban Legend , their was more about Maggie being independent and not wanting to ask for help w/ things , the moral was supposed to be about not being so pridefull or something.

They made a variable of it into a movie , but "Maggie" was now a 12 yr old girl home alone stalked by a pedo who posed as another 12 yr old girl online. He killed her dog and hid under her bed and licked her hand when she got in bed. It was on the " Campfire Tales " dvd.

The Power of Prayer ?

OK - here's my little contribution . . .

I used to be very friendly with an Anglican Priest who lived in a parish local to where I lived. The parish was small, isolated and with an echoing stone-built small church, which was more often than not empty - except for the priest - when it came to weekday evensong ( or vespers ). The priest himself was married ( allowable in the Church of England ) and I knew him and his wife very well.

I have no reason to doubt his account of the experience. He himself was in his late forties, an intelligent progressive thinker, and quite able to question many of the fundamental tenets of his religion and hierarchy. Nor would I have judged him as prone to flights of superstitious fancy.

On the occasion in question, he told me, he had finished another short and solitary Evensong service, and had just finished locking up the North Door ( main door ).
As he returned in the gloom to the vestry via the nave he saw the figure of what appeared to be a little old lady in a shawl in one of the side aisles, kneeling, bent in prayer. A bit surprised that he hadn?t spotted her earlier, and not wanting to disturb her at her devotions, he returned to the door and unlocked it. From there he went back to the vestry to remove his vestments, intending to return to welcome his unexpected guest when she had finished praying. Less than two minutes later he returned to the body of the church, but the little old lady had gone.

Nothing remarkable in that, indeed, but, when he returned to lock up the North Door again, he found it locked !

Of course, in disbelief, he unlocked it and looked ouside briefly into the churchyard, but nobody could be seen. So he locked the door again, switched on all the church lights, and, finding nothing amiss, switched them off again. Then he returned to the vestry to let himself out through the vestry side door.

As he reached the churchyard gates outside he paused and glanced back briefly at the church. He swears to this day he saw a wavering dim light deep within the recesses of the church, only to go out when he looked at it again.

I've been to the Graveyard of that church and its got some really spooky tombs ( gives out hoarse slightly-insane laugh . . . ! )

Why don't you come visiting me across the mist-draped Dales some dark night ? Who knows what surprises await us among the granite-strewn and broken terrain ?

:eek::eek::eek:

Do a search for Old Time Radio - lots of sites online that have either streaming shows or podcasts. All the old shows like Inner Sanctum, Escape, and many others. Definitely some ghost stories there.
