Here's a conundrum... any ideas?

Hi guys. Here's a little question for you that my partner and I have been thinking about a lot lately. I'm a bi female with a true hermaphrodite life partner who acts, looks and dresses female. She has fully functioning but non-reproductive penis and vagina. We've been living together in NYC since May.
Here's the question: Do you think the great state of New York would let us get married? We're not a gay couple because my partner has a penis and I have a vagina. We're not a straight (omg) couple because my partner also has a vagina. Waddya think?
If we figure this one out, we're going to try to join the army.

Hi Ellen, you will have to forgive my ignorance on this, but could i ask what is on your partners birth certificate, male or female, because from what i can gather it has to be ether male or female they don't issue certificates for hermaphrodite or intersex, at least not here in England, i could be wrong, is that the "True hermaphrodite" bit?
Any way i would think your getting married would depend on what is on your partners certificate, if they allow homosexuals to marry in NY then you have all bases covered as i think you yanks say.:D

If she is down as a girl you can marry as a homosexual couple, if shes down as a man you could marry as a straight couple.
If hermaphrodite's are recognised on birth certificates in the U.S well..? that's a tough one.

Good luck my friend.:)

I agree, I think it would depend on what was put on the birth certificate.

Gay foreigners can marry legally here in Belgium. Maybe this can offer you a solution. Of course, your marriage is then only recognized by Belgian law...

It's been a few months since you first brought up this topic. If you are still looking to get married to your partner and both of you are registered as female on your birth certificate there is a cheaper alternative than going to Europe. It is legal in Canada for two people of the same sex to get married. It's much cheaper than going to Europe. I would suggest that you try Ontario as the main language there is English. From NYC it is just as easy to cross at either the Thousand Islands or Niagara Falls.
Hope this helps you.
