Interesting. When is the movie set to come out?

I wonder why a transsexual woman wasn't cast in the role. It wasn't so long ago that some people were complaining that actors/actresses playing movie roles weren't of the race for the character being portrayed. Why then should it be different for transwomen. A transwoman, and not a gg, should play the character of a transwoman.

I would say it comes down to box-office drawing power. You have two of the very top rank of female star actresses here. A lot of silver screen magic there. At least this will help bring the issue before the public and hopefully promote more understanding, and through that; more acceptance. I am just thrilled to see a top rank production concerning this issue. I am not familiar with the director, but I am a longtime fan of both of these ladies and their work and I have every bit of confidence in them,

Yes, that sounds like an interesting project.
The casting of a female is similar to "Transamerica" where a mtf transexual is played by Felicity Huffman.
It begs the question, where/who are some really good transexual actresses/actors?

and after all, it is also brand, well-known name and seeing it on the billboards many people will choose to buy a ticket to the cinema.

This sounds really interesting. I love Nicole, and have enjoyed almost all of her performances. I think she is a great actress.

I'm eager to watch this move when it comes out.

I've got the feeling that this movie is going to cause a lot of controversy in many countries (specially in Mexico) but I hope that this turns out in something good for all of us.

I saw on wikipedia that this movie may come out in 2010, so there's still a long time to wait for it!

Sounds very interesting. I also heard of 2010 being the release date, though I hear it may be held back until 2011 for the US. Nicole Kidman is also one of the producers for the film and I believe Gwyneth Paltrow is now playing the wife, rather than Charlize Theron.

Also.. in one of the links it says "In «The Danish Girl», Nicole Kidman will play the first male-to-female transsexual, in 1931: Danish painter Einar Wegener." and the other says "Their marriage took a sharp left turn after Einar (Kidman) stood in for a female model that Greta (Theron) was set to paint." So which one is the painter? :p
