It's not a compulsion, it's a matter of survival. A woman needs to be twice as good as a man to be taken seriously - a trans woman has to be twice as good as a cis woman. The price of failure is extreme.

When people find out I'm trans, I have to justify every part of my life, every hobby I have, every article of clothing I own, every medical choice I have made. I have no reasonable expectation to privacy as everything from the status of my crotch to how I have sex is fair game for discussion. My childhood becomes the object of everyone's pet theories and facts/feelings/observations are equally discounted or inflated to make my experience fit/prove those same theories.

After all of that - my legitimacy is still always paper thin. My safety hinges on that legitimacy, so my personal safety is always in question all day every day.

As bob dylan said. Times they are a chaingin. I think transgenderism is getting more and more accepted by the ordinary person all the time and in time TGs will be seen as a normal part of society as many now think Gay men and women are.

It was once a very normal part of native american society.

I would never have been able to see that perspective, and for that
I thank you for shedding understanding upon me...
I guess I mentioned LP's because they are more of a visible part
of my life and I have been told by some what it is like to walk in
their shoes, not that anyone (me included) could ever truly know...
I was simply trying to wrap my head around my own perception
of who transwomen are, with so much of the view we see of them
on the Internet as objects for carnal desire, I was thinking out loud
about how that happened, how could a group of people, seemingly
become such fervent adherents to the service of the male psyche...
Was it simply a need to validate thyself, obviously not.
Some transwomen want to be objects of desire, others
perhaps fell into it, still others will have some other reasoning...
Now I know it goes without saying but I'll say it, men love porn,
but there does come a time when a man realizes porn is just some
physical release or addiction, choose your camp, and then that
man has to look at himself and ask this question why am I looking
at transwomen so much, fascination, desire, lust, yes, but that's not
all, its something more than curiosity, we really do want to know
you, really, and I guess, in this society, not all, but in the US, either
transwomen are so stealth you would never know or there is some
carnal element attached to our interactions, and I think to conclude
I am just trying to understand what direction we are going in and
how we ended up where we are...
Me personally, I wish there was some-sort of E-harmony-ish
site for the admirers of transwomen, maybe there is I can't seem to
find anything but porn, :lol:
