So do you think they will touch on Tony Starks alcoholism or will it be more like the Armor Wars and about reclaiming stolen ARC technology?

From what i've heard the movie will also have Whiplash who in the movie is also Russian and is sent to steel Tony's armor so it'll be more of an armor wars feel and i dout MARVEL want to dwell on the alcoholism issue not in the movies after all these movies are aimed at kids in order to sell action figures t-shirts etc etc :D Jerseygirl Jen

Just as a FYI, it was actually Jon Favreau (the director) who fought hard to keep the long running comic book subplot of Stark's alcoholism out of the movies. As the filmed the first one, he felt it just didn't fit in, and as they approached this new second one, he thought it was STILL too dark a character aspect to introduce into the storyline, especially since so many people liked the fact that while THE DARK KNIGHT was grim and gritty, IRON MAN was the opposite and lively and fun.

Favreau has mentioned in interviews, however, that if the movies continue on he might reconsider the alcoholism subplot as an option. Keep in mind that in this second movie, Terence Howard -- who played Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes in the first film -- has been replaced by Don Cheadle. When Cheadle was signed, there were some initial rumors that the alcoholism storyline MIGHT be incorporated into the third film, so that Rhodey (per the comics) could temporarily wear the armor.

The only problem is...based on the time table that Marvel is operating under for releasing their movies...they're ALSO planning to dovetail the third IRON MAN movie into the first AVENGERS movie. So if this second film is anywhere near as popular as the first one was (and odds are it will be like Spider-Man 2 was relative to Spider-Man 1, and thus be even MORE popular), then you can bet the LAST thing the studio will want to do is have a story in the third film that makes Stark look like a schmuck or takes Downey Jr. out of the armor for even a minute.

And if you're interested in shot of Mickey Rourke as Whiplash in the new movie, here's the initial publicity still the studio has released...

Yeah they've already stated in some interviews that that will be a huge factor in the new movie.

I think the alcoholism aspect would make him more human for lack of a better word. These heroes are larger than life and seem unstopable. By showing him hit bottom it would make him more of a hero to sober up and suit up than just him making new armor. Does that make sense?

That's the charm of MARVEL of old there heroes were more human SPIDERMAN was a teen with great powers and yet he had trouble dating and fitting in, DC heroes back then had no such problems Batman would beat the Joker and Robin would be with him big smile and say neato. And what was Superman's trouble always going after Lois Lane like why? Dude go bang WONDER WOMAN or BLACK CARNEY  Jerseygirl Jen

He'd need a Kryptonite condom to bang Lois , otherwise he'd blow his load like a shotgun. Only Wonder Womans vadge is strong enough to handle super sperm.

Hi there.

I got the Iron Man DVD and there are a few deleted scenes 9 i think, there are 4 that i feel souldn't have been deleted, one in the casino where he looses $1,000,000 or some other large sum on a dice throw and just moves on no problem, it shows him as more human and flawed which i like, because in real life, everybody is flawed to some degree, and beeing captured by the terrorists and escaping is somewhat of a wake-up call, which is how he did it in the original comic book.
