Battlestar Galactica... It's probably the best show I've seen on TV, but on the downside, they take WAY too long between seasons, and even for mid-season breaks.

The Drew Carey Show
Malcolm in the Middle... ... ... No pun intended-- not trying to be pedo-ish. It's just a fucking funny show. The earlier seasons were the better ones, before everyone grew up.
(Dare I say?) MacGyver:yes: As a child, the show inspired me to take everything apart--EVERYTHING (from radios, VCRs and remote controls to R/C cars and GI Joes and old broken electrical equipment that oddly enough started working again). I recently saw an episode and realized how shmaltzy the actual story was. At least the gizmos and devices were still interesting.

Well, without any order, here's a list:
#1: Star Trek, as a whole. I love it. Maybe I could pick DS9 as my favourite Trek show, then TNG, Voyager and Enterprise sharing second place, then TOS (I don't remember a lot about it, I'll have to watch the remastered episodes sometime).
Some old ones: - Farscape (amazing sci-fi series)
- SG-1 & SG-A
- Columbo

- Quantum Leap
- A-Team
- Knight Rider (the old, the TKR and the new one too)
- Dallas :D
- Mortal Kombat Conquest
- John Doe
- Special Unit 2
- King of Queens
- The Lost World
- X-Files
- Xena & Hercules
New ones:
- 24
- Life
- House
- My Name is Earl
- Eureka
- Prison Break
- NCIS
- Criminal Minds
- Boston Legal
- According to Jim
- American Gladiators 2008
- Wipeout

- South Park
- Simpsons
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
- True Blood
- Wildfire
And I'm sure I've forgotten to mention a lot of them. :)

Hmmm... in general I find most series utterly boring and draaagging on and on and on... so I cannot say I watch any regularly.
I do like some of the classic sit coms (Cheers, Frasier, Family Ties), and Steven Bochco's police series (Hill St. and NYPD Blues) were superb.
But maybe it's just because I don't spend too much time in front of a television - I prefer to spend it in front of a TV... bad joke, sorry ;-)

I watch broadcasts on C-SPAN (three channels) more than anything else. I have learned a good deal about the workings of the Federal Government and of US history, especially Presidential History. I also enjoy their show "Book TV." In-Depth interviews are just that and are usually at least three hours in length, including the call-in segment. Although not everything aired there is interesting it is commercial free and deserves kudos for that fact alone.
I also enjoy watching Rachel Maddow's new show on MSNBC. Finally, my TV viewing includes a few guilty pleasures, such as South Park and David Letterman.

You know at first glance, it seems that almost everyone listed sci-fi shows in their top lists. (as well as lots of Simpsons and Family Guy)
My list will include them as well. Is there a connection? Maybe people who like sci-fi are already more open to new and different ideas. Captain Kirk and Commander Riker were always hooking up with alien females after all! :D
Allright, this is almost an impossible task, but I'll take a whack at it:

Hey, no problem, Violet Lightning. Had to look it over a second time...and I did not need a "Da Vinci Code". Don't forget, you stated...quote: "people who like sci-fi are open to new and different ideas". Just one question, however....In your "BBC SciFi list" I assume #8 is "Ab Fab"? And #7 is "Fringe"?
Great taste, Violet!
One thing I noticed....I was the only one to list "The Prisoner" (Patrick McGoohan). Shocking, truly shocking! And, also "The Avengers" (Patrick MacNee, Diana Rigg:drool:, Honor Blackman:drool:) was not on anyone's list (except mine). I guess I am showing my age, lol)

Have always been a big fan of "Gil Grissom/William Peterson." A few years ago I taught a senior seminar that met MWF at 8:00. Everyone in class was a "CSI junkie" and we spent most of our Friday morning discussing the previous night's episode.
One of my favorite Grissom quotes is: "I'm wrong all the time. That's how I get to 'right'."

I don't watch TV that much these days, though I have enjoyed Heroes so far and am looking forward to it coming back on air. Family Guy is hilarious, I'll watch it if I notice it's on. Apart from that though, I don't really watch TV anymore :p

I don't follow regular shows that much. But I can watch those one-hour shows on channels like Discovery, History, Learning and National Geographic for hours on end.
Deep Sea Detectives, Modern Marvels. Mythbusters was another show I liked. I like shows that can teach me things about our world, without boring me in the process.

4. Buffy, the Vampire Slayer
5. Prison Break
6. Alias
7. The X-Files
8. Scrubs

I could list a lot of shows, but perhaps my all-time favorite is "The Avengers" -- a British spy show from the 1960 that I watched as a young boy. (Yes, much later there was an awful film version made with Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman).
The show always had a sexy female sidekick for John Steed, the dapper British male lead, From 1965 to 1968, it was Diana Rigg as Emma Peel. I've included a few photos of her from the series, including one with Steed. Everything about Mrs. Peel oozed sexuality. She often wore leather or fishnets or something else provocative. She was a master at martial arts. She could charm the pants off of anyone.
In later years, I imagined her drawing her gun on me or throwing me to the ground (she could seemingly handle any man), pulling out a beautiful cock, and making me suck her until she gave me a sweet drink of Emma-cum.
