today xbox is the best console so no one will tell you otherwise please!!!

This seems dangerously close to fanboy talk. Though I do love me Assassin's Creed. My favorite modern franchise.

I just started playing the Torchlight free xbox live download
and have started playing that.

It gets me away from Oblivion IV Elder scrolls

Misha, what do you think of it? It's not a hard game to get into, and trying to find some good loot is addicting!

There are some great Mods out there, but they are unfortunately exclusive to the PC.

Make sure it's patched up to 1.15!:)

I loved Oblivion(I played for months and I didn't even advance the main storyline beyond my character escaping from the prison at the start of the game! It's huge!

One thing that I didn't like about Oblivion is that if you became a vampire, and then got the cure, your character looked like a half-vampire, half-melted hybrid. There was some glitch that caused that, as your character is supposed to revert back to what they looked like before the physical changes occurred. Poor Daphne. She just didn't look the same after that.:( At least I had a save before the changes, so I just got myself healed before the affliction became permanent(so no physical changes).

Have you played Fallout 3 at all? It is a huge game, like Oblivion, and it uses the same engine(Gamebryo) as Oblivion as well.

I own both Sacred Gold and Sacred 2(I didn't think that it sold enough to warrant another sequel, but I'm glad that they're making one), but I haven't had a chance to play them much. I'm sure I'll try them soon(if I can find the time!).

Baldur's Gate(the entire saga) was epic! Starting off as a weak character(I played a human male called Shadows), I carried my character over to Baldur's Gate 2 and finally Throne Of Bhaal. I romanced Jaheira(you have to use the online walkthrough for her romance as it is the most buggy of them all, and if you don't follow it exactly you can have it become unable to be completed), but decided to decline the opportunity to become a god.

Aerie was upset, but I was with Jaheira from the beginning, and after the loss of her beloved husband Khalid, I was there to comfort her in her time of need. How could I abandon her, or cause her pain by turning away from her growing affection(soon, love)?:)

No. The only thing I've heard about it is from your post here. I just Googled her. It looks like she's a reviewer for GameSpot. Nice to see another female gamer out there.:)

Has anything in particular happened with regards to her recently?

She's trans. She recently reviewed LA Noire and apparently gamers at Gamespot went apeshit. ("she's trans, it's a move by gamespot for a social message," "she's trans, so that diverts attention from the review" kinds of things and worse which I can only imagine.) I think most of those posts have been deleted by now. I only heard about this yesterday from Arthur Gies of Rebel FM.

I knew that she was a transwoman, but I didn't think anything of it. Those comments that were removed show how misinformed people still are today. I imagine that there will be many (rightfully so) banned accounts at GameSpot after all this.

Jodie, don't the XBox 360's have internet access available to them now, or is that just on the PS3? If so, you should be able to get access to a patch on XBox Live wouldn't you? I will admit that I don't know much about the consoles, but it should be available.

Regardless, if you picked up Torchlight recently, it should be the most recent version available(I believe 1.15 came about in February at the latest).

Jodie, I have heard that there are issues with the GOTY(Game Of The Year) version for Fallout 3, but I cannot recall if it was for XBox 360 or Playstation 3. There is some bug that causes the game to freeze. Before you look into it, try to see which one it is. If it is on the console you own, just pick up vanilla Fallout 3. There are still a TON of things to do in it.

And if you get stuck anywhere or need some tips, I would be happy to help you out.:)

Play it! Play it now! The first one is really repetitive but still interesting. It is the sequel that shows the true potential of the franchise and Brotherhood is just to damn pretty and the combat has been improved--chain kills! With any luck you'll enjoy the themes of control (the Templars) versus freedom (the Assassins) as much as I did.

All Bethesda open world games are best enjoyed on PC. Nothing beats the keyboard for those games although Skyrim might just change that--and I've no option but to buy Skyrim for 360 since my laptop could never handle it.

You could access a patch but only insofar as Bethesda has uploaded it for Xbox users. But you'll never get user made patches which fix tons more problems that the official patches did not address (there are fan made patches that fix thousands of problems in Fallout 3 and Oblivion. There is also a streamline program for Oblivion that will make it run much better--I don't stutter even in Sheogorath's throne room! that place is the biggest drag on framerate.)

Glad to hear that you won't have the issues. The GOTY adds 5 different addons, so you get even MORE value for your money(I picked it up for $29.99 Canadian a few months ago even though I already had the original Fallout 3 CE version when it first came out).

The addons are:

1. The Pitt-a very challenging place. Be warned that once you enter, you cannot leave until the main quest of The Pitt is completed. However, you can re-enter The Pitt afterwards at any time.

2. Operation Anchorage. This is a really cool place that involves the original battle in Anchorage Alaska between the Chinese insurgents and the American army. My favourite of the 5! Again, once you're in, you're in. You can't leave until the main quest is done. Also, once you exit the simulator you cannot re-enter it again.

3. Point Lookout. A very large addon that adds a unique twist to the "Southern hospitality" saying. You can leave at any time, and re-enter whenever you want. You just have to buy another ticket onto the ferry. A fun adventure!

4. Mothership Zeta. Once you are placed on the ship, you cannot leave until the main quest is finished. If you like energy weapons, then this is the place to go! Once you are finished the quest, you can re-enter the ship but you only have access to one small part of it(to get more equipment). This is regarded by a lot of people as the weakest of the 5 addons.

5. Broken Steel. This addon is not accessible until the Main Quest of Fallout 3 is completed. I won't spoil this at all.

I hope you have fun, Misha!:)

There could have been different versions at the beginning. There were quite a few versions listed leading up to the latest version in the ReadMe.

Speaking of a new version, are you going to try out Fable 3 for the PC(it came out last Tueday)?

Nah. I'm busy playing the old school Sonic games and trying to ramp up my reading and I very much doubt my stupid laptop can handle Fable 3. It can't deftly handle Fallout 3. It can't even handle Super Meat Boy at full resolution!

Yes it is. It is unfortunate that a) I cannot really experience it again except perhaps if b) my laptop wasn't such a piece of shit that I never experienced the full graphical "beauty" of the game, in which case it might happen again. It was very cool after spending 2 or 3 hours in the Vault learning the ropes and redoing the test several times before I settled on a build I liked.

When I am finally able to afford a computer that would be able to play it will all the "bells and whistles" I will play it again. I had it at medium level and it still looked phenominal. I cannot wait to see it fully loaded!

Skyrim will be too much for my current computer to handle, of that I am quite certain. I will purchase the CE version of the game and then wait until I get a better computer to play it.

What is CE? I for one will have no choice but to buy an Xbox 360 version of Skryim. Such a pity. Bethesda's games are best served one a PC if only because fans make patches and some mods that makes things prettier--I have never cared, and never will care, for fan made questlines. There is already too much in each game to experience without throwing in fan quests.

CE stands for Collector's Edition. I like getting the extra goodies. Some CEs are better than others. Fallout 3(lunchbox and bobblehead), Fallout 3(poker chip, cards, art book), Bioshock(Big Daddy figurine, music CD), Pool Of Radiance: Ruins Of Myth Drannor(dice, music CD, novel, D&D module, dice bag) are just a few examples of great CEs. I don't really like the ones where all you get extra is a couple of codes to gain access to "bonus items". Bleh!

Some fan-made quests are worth playing. For example, Circle Of Eight's additions to Temple Of Elemental Evil totally fixed a broken game(even after the final "official" patch) and added some much needed content.

I like a lot of older games. The newest one I own is GTA4, and the newest since that is probably Quake 4.

I like games like old school Unreal Tournament, Final Fantasy (the NES version), Neo Geo's Metal Slug series, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I recently started replaying Quake 2.

Actually, I lied. I have a few newer games that my coworker suggested. Spelunky and Super Meat Boy. They're both deadly platformers.

Really? Then you must tell me how they do it because I can't figure out how to take out a sentry and dispatch the engie before he hits the electro sapper away. I have died many a time trying to take out sentries so my team could move in.

Well I think one way would be to sap the sentry and then backstab them while they're still trying to destroy the sapper and the sentry wont shoot you because it's still hopefully being sapped.

Quicker reflexes to pull your knife out? Or if there's other things they've built nearby, sap them first then the sentry, you'll have more time to stab while the sentry is down that way.

I'm personally an old school gamer, in that I grew up with every system when I was a kid (NES, Super NES, Game Boy, Game Gear, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, PS One, PS2, PC Games during the '90s, and a friend had Super Genesis), but around high school, my passion ebbed out.

Apart from games online embedded in java applets, it's only very recently that I bought an XBOX 360, and rented and beat Portal, and then rented and didn't beat Half Life 2. I currently own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Fozor Motorsport 4, and Fable III (came with system).

I hardly have time, but I hope to beat some more games soon. :)

Unfortunately the prefix pre is not restricted to on-line vendors. All too often it is used with a verb which renders the resulting word meaningless.

Pre-purchasing means I have paid for it and once it's released I get it. It's a sort of "pay now and you get it when it's ready" shtick. Pre-purchasing the game (purchasing before it's released) means I get guaranteed access to all beta events from now until launch, and I get 3 days early access to the game when it does release on the market. When it's released, I don't have to pay any further money towards it, and the game itself has no subscription fee.

Some may see this method of purchase as foolish, but I ask you - how many times have you thrown money away? When you purchase something online and get it delivered to your door step, is that not some sort of pre-purchase as well, as you're giving them your money before you have the product? Not only that, but my pre-purchase was a digital copy, meaning as soon as it is released I have only to download it. It's 100% guaranteed that I will get what I paid for, and aside from waiting for the data to download there's no wait time for it, whereas when you purchase something online, you have to wait between 5-12 working days for your product to arrive, and there's a chance it may not arrive whatsoever.

There is even a site called kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com) that a lot of game developers use when they can't get publisher funding for a game. Basically they make a pitch video and include a "Back this project" link so that the people who want the game are actually paying for the development themselves, cutting out publishers all together. Tim Schafer (who made games like Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle) and Brian Fargo (who made Wasteland, Fallout and Fallout 2) have both gone on kickstarter with great success. Tim Schafer is making a new adventure game called Double Fine. He asked for $400 000, but the amount pledged was over 3.3 million. Brian Fargo is making Wasteland 2, and asked for $900 000, and with still 5 days to go the total has already skyrocketed to over 2.3 million.

See, BlueRaven88, I tried to make it clear that my criticism of the neologism "pre-purchase" was not directed at your use of this term, which has become commonplace. I am sorry that you seem not to have caught that part of my post.

And yes, I know what the neologism means. The point is that what it describes is not a purchase, which implies the transfer of a good for money. Thus, it is a ridiculous term invented by marketeers, and is an assault on the English language ... as are all such terms.

That doesn't change the fact that the process you describe is a good one, with many benefits for the purchaser. But you didn't "pre-purchase" the game. One cannot "pre"-purchase, only purchase, a good. You purchased a promise.

Okay, English class dismissed. ;)

Exactly what I was referring to in my tongue-in-cheek posting. Like you, I wasn't referring to BlueRaven's use of the term as it has become so commonplace to incorrectly use pre.

No. You paid in advance. The vendor didn't want to use that term because it sounds like he gets something while you get nothing; which is true.

Quite glad you've played Super Metroid. It is the SNES classic which stands to this day--I hear people rave about Link to the Past but the game's puzzles lack complexity. It doesn't satsify me.

Earthbound on the other hand is a very quirky RPG. Imagine America if there was a megalomaniacal alien trying to take over the world, only you and a group of other psychically gifted children were all that stood in its way and a team of Japanese writers coming off a high wrote it. If you've played Super Smash Bros you've seen the main character of the game: Ness. I'm not one to encourage illegal activity but you can easily find a SNES emulator and an Earthbound ROM. Very much worth it. It also has a sequel: Mother 3. Earthbound is actually the second of the series. Mother is the name for the series in Japan.

So if you are interested, just search this for what series I will race in, and when I'll be racing. http://www.theonlineracingassociation.com/tora-championships.html

My soonest race will be the NA TCC on Tue. at 6pm PST. If anyone cares to watch. Though I'm not sure if that series is covered or not. It's relatively new.
If not, you can always catch me racing in the TORA 24 hours of Le Mans from 6am Sat. June 30th - 6am Sun. July 1st PST.
Now I won't be runing the entire 24 hours (thank goodness), and I don't know as of yet witch stints I'll be running. But I will be in the race. :)

That's the exact opposite with me. I think the keyboard and mouse sucks for most games. I only use it in games where a controller is useless, like literal point and click games (Civilization, Tropico).

Other than that, I always use my PS3 or gamecube controller to play PC games.

The keyboard and mouse just don't give me the sensitivity of the 360 range on an analogue stick, the button layout with the shoulder buttons and the dual analogue support as well.

Try playing Jet Set Radio with a keyboard. Yuck.

It killed me 30 times first though, when I went up to it to make friends.....
I'm in love with Lydia "I am sworn to carry your burdens"
and I just got a talking dog: Barbas (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Barbas)
Don't complete A Daedra's Best Friend quest and he stays with you
for the rest of the game. Also coz he is effectively a quest item, he cannot
be killed. I run into caveS or castles full of monsters or vampires or necromancers ect.
Barbas follows me and attacks them. As soon as he does, I run out.
10 minutes later I go back in to loot their bodies and meet back up
with Barbas, if he hasn't already wandered back out to me.
In Elder scrolls IV: Oblivion, there were a pair of twins who if you didn't
take them back to reclaim their ancestral home invaded by demons,
they also followed you round and were also quest items, indestructible and jolly useful too.

I´ve played videogames almost all my life. It started when I got my GameBoy when I was 6 years old and I´ve been hooked since then :)

For now I mostly play StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, Dota2 (from time to time) and lots of other games such as point and click adventures ( I still have to finish the Deponia trilogy).
I have never really played MMORPG´s except for Champions Online. I still play The Secret World if I´m in the mood.

A PS3 gamer here. Though I do play a bit of Planetside and some strategy games on PC.

These days I'm playing: Assassins Creed Black Flag, Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns & Beyond Two Souls.

Fellow members i love gaming too as well and yes as you can tell I'm a older gamer too as well and i gladly will admit it I'm a 26 year old gamer,a anime fan and a manga fan if you think I'm too old/if you think I'm getting too old to love this stuff i fully understand and so far of the following systems i have so far are PlayStation 2,game boy color,Game boy advance,Xbox360,PSP3000 and NES.

And for my NES the motherboard it's completely rusted out,no longer works like it use to sadly and i don't know yet what to do with it i either replace just the motherboard alone or replace the whole thing only time will tell and before you asked me why did i say if you think I'm too old/if you think I'm getting too old to love this stuff i fully understand .

I will gladly tell you it's because some of my favorite characters and some of my all time favorite characters is either younger then me,same age as me or older then me and if you ever like a example of any of my favorite characters that's younger then me then look at Yuffia Kisaragi from final fantasy and Rita Mordio from tales of series and don't worry i do have other favorite characters and other all time favorite characters and yes I'll include other favorite final fantasy characters and tales of series characters if you want me too.

Never ask a question for which you don't want to know the answer or don't already know the answer. ;)
