View Full Version : Summer drinks

It's a warm evening and I felt the need for alcoholic refreshment, nothing too strong. So I've concocted a new drink: you've heard of kir (white wine + cassis) and spritzer (white wine + soda water, or sparkling mineral water), well this is a hybrid of those, a sort of kir light.
- Half glass white wine, poured over ice + dash of cassis + half glass of sparkling mineral water. It works well, refreshing and not too demanding.

This has got nothing at all to do with transsexuality, just decided to announce this astonishing creation here first on this forum! In honour of that, and because it's a delicate drink, fresh and with good potential, I shall call it a 'pink femboy' (well there's already a drink called 'pink lady').

Try it, it might catch on. Any other suggestions for good summer drinking?

Something about a mojito seems to suggest summer to me. And as for cool and refreshing, nothing beats a Ted Kennedy special: Long Island Iced Tea. However, many would not consider my drinking habits to be the most feminine...for that matter, many would consider them to be downright alcoholic. :) My preferred drink is straight whiskey, bottom ups!

My favourite summer beverage on a hot summer day is dunkeles hefe Weizen bier. (For those that don't speak German it translates to dark yeasty wheat beer) I prefer the German to the Belgian beer.

Long Island Iced Tea? I like iced tea - does this have a little extra surprise hidden away in the tea?

Have to admit the kir with mineral water is a wee bit girly - maybe that's why it's called a 'pink femboy'.

An ice cold bottle of Corona with a slice of lime goes down well. Or an ice cold pint of carlsberg export.

If you're after spirits, then pimms and lemonade as a good summer drink, quite refreshing as well.

So.. am I playing into expectations if I mention that my favorite drinks are made with a blender and have skewered fruit as garnish? :frown:

Yep, definately a ladies drink. No red blooded male would be seen dead with skewered fruit. :p

I just don't like alchohol's taste.. so if the drink tastes like fruit punch I'm soooo there!! Acessories help too.. sparklers, umberellas, those plastic guys that hang off the glass, plastc swords to play-fight... I beleve it's called "girl-drink drunk".... *sigh* guilty...

I come by it honest tho.. one of my lesbians took me out on my 21st birthday and prmptly ordered the "sissiest all-alchohol drink". She came back with a tasty festival in a glass. It tasted so yummy I drank it faster than her girl-friend could get me another. In a very short time I was busy making out with whomever didn't move very fast.

I have learned to temper my actions, but not my love of a refreashing adult beverage that tastes like candy.

The "tea" is more of an illusion than a reality...hehe...

1 part vodka
1 part tequila
1 part rum
1 part gin
1 part triple sec
1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola®

Mix ingredients together over ice in a glass. Pour into a shaker and give one brisk shake. Pour back into the glass and make sure there is a touch of fizz at the top. Garnish with lemon.

I don't mind sissified drinks, truth be told, some of those mixed drinks taste fabulous. But in my experience, bars and restaurants often sell very diluted versions, and I'm too cheap to pay $5-7 for what amounts to a shot or two of liqour. I could be drinking at home MUCH cheaper and in MUCH larger volume...

I suppose that I gave up drinking for taste a few years ago. I like beer, and I really prefer imported beer (or craft brewery beer), as it has so much more taste than any of the mass-marketed domestic garbage. But on a per drink basis, I found beer to be an expensive luxury. Particularly when someone such as myself drinks for effect...

And I guess that is my problem...I hear about people that drink these top shelf liquors that are diluted in the very sort of "candy drinks" that you refer to Bionca. If I drink any sort of top shelf (or mid-shelf) liquor, I want it to be for taste. Once a liquor is diluted into fruit juice, soda, seltzer, etc. it looses some of it's character...you might as well be drinking bottom shelf in my opinion. And if you're drinking bottom shelf, you're drinking for effect. I never got people that mix high end liquors into a taste-diluting concoction. I myself want the most bang for my buck...:innocent:

Personally I like a nice, ice cold Maker's Mark whiskey sour.
If I'm in a non-alcoholic mood a tall glass of ice-cold lemonade.

Honestly, I have no idea what a drink costs... I have never actually bought one in my life. I only drink when I'm out, and I'd never get tipsy alone. So, drinking is a date thing exclusively and pretty much a treat, so I'm going for yummy. If the one buying the drink gets top shelf stuff... I doubt I'd actually know the differance. :innocent: :innocent:

.. ok.. so this conversation makes me seem like a twinky little girl *sigh*

Alas, it's statements like this that show me just how voracious my appetite for altered states of consciousness is.

Well, if its summer its got to be pink and refreshing. A lovely fruity rose wine, bags of fruit, and slips down very nicely! Oz wine for a nice kick, Spanish for a little more elegance!

Wow that T sounds really hardcore! A bit too powerful for me I think.

Anyone else like Negroni?
1 part gin + 1 part sweet red vermouth + 1 part Campari bitter.
Stir into glass over ice and garnish with a twist of orange.
(Umbrellas optional for the girls!)
Really great stuff.

A fave from the old college days was a Hairy Buffalo. It's best served during a party..

1 cooler (empty)
A bunch of fruit - any will do, but should be a variety and cut into bite-sized chunks/wedges.
2 Gal of fruit punch
Each guest brings a bottle of their favorite booze to add

It's pretty hit or miss, but never fails to get one good and drunk. Followed by a game of "Truth or Dare" or "Spin the Bottle" and stories better left unsaid are sure to happen.

Two summer favs:
Seabreeze - 1 1/2 oz vodka, grapefruit juice, splash of cranberry and a lime.
Madras - 1 1/2 oz vodka, orange juice, splash of cranberry.

Only good with fresh squeezed juice.

Another is a cuba libra - 1 1/2 oz rum(meyers or Mt. Gay), diet coke and a lime.

the best summer drink? has to be cold beer, the simplest things are often the most enjoyable, and theres nothing quite like a cold beer after a hard days work, i love botles of corona but without any lime in the kneck thats shits for women.

When I was a little kid I got so hot mowing the lawn I chugged an entire ice cold beer, the only beverage in the fridge. Delishchuss!!!
German beer=Liquid bread
On the sixth month of a strict diet I went out and bought a Bartender's guide just so I could read all the recipes.

I prefer sodas - cream, root beer, orange, citrus, etc. - flavored water, or Gatorade.
*grumbles at Gatorade for getting rid of Tropical Propel and the Coca-Cola Company for discontinuing Pineapple Fanta*

pour the vodka down my throat, yum num num num num!!

I personly thin Malibou is the best drink ever, 2 reasons 1 is you can drink it from the bottle like water, but it's 21%, 2 is if you vom, it still tastes yummy going the other way.

Who here has tried an Evil Traffic Light?
