Are there any other F1 enthusisasts on the forum? I like a types of motorsports but I must admit I really enjoy F1 road racing. I usually have to wake up early to watch the races in Europe but this afternoon the German Grand Prix at Nurburgring was on Fox at noon. The broadcast doesn't have to compete with NASCAR or Indy Racing for American viewer ratings today because both series are off today.
Does anyone have any predictions for the rest of the 2011 Formula One season? If so who are your favorite drivers? I like Lewis Hamilton.

my favorite driver is Lewis Hamilton:D
i guess as much as i hate it i think Vettel will win the championship again. his car is just too fast.
but i think the real battle will be for second with Hamilton, Alonso and webber.
and Im thinking Hamilton can get second if he keeps on driving like he did today.
what do you think will happen with the championship?

Yeh I watch it when I'm not busy. Have watched it for a while now. First race I remember watching was in 1993, although I didnt really know much about it, only that it looked "cool".
This year could go down to the wire again. Ferrari and Mclaren have finally sorted themselves out and are just as quick as Red Bull in the race now, if not quicker (at least in the hands of Alonso and Hamilton). Was a great race yesterday and thankfully only a few days to the next.

That's a wild video! I got serious about watching F1 fifteen years ago when I was living in New Orleans and was a regular at an English Pub frequented by a lot of British expats. They would often open at about 5:00 a.m. to show F1 broadcasts on Speed from Europe. Sometimes the place just never closed from the night before. I always favored Mansell during that era! What a terrific driver and team!
I'm hoping Lewis Hamilton can hang in this year and see more time at the podium. Of course, as an American I'm hoping the U.S. can muster a F1 team soon. There are some talented America drivers in NASCAR and the Indy Race League that could hang in F1 but it would take commitment and a lot of money and time to become competitive.

Who in the UK is pissed about todays coverage announcement? I have Sky, so I wont really miss out on coverage, but the BBC is the spirtual home of F1. Bernie Eccelstone has some nerve dealing with the Murdoch's, particurly after the hacking scandal with the New Of The World.
Heartless, souless, mindless, senseless bastards.

Just really really good.
Button was excellent; not bad ....a win for his 200th GP.
I wish every F1 race was as alive as this one.
Though bar one race, they have all been really good this year.

Jody,
Thanks for posting those vintage tapes of Mansell. They were very exciting!

Check out You Tube for BBC DOcumentary on the late great Ayrton Senna and marvel at his mastery and sheer talent at the wheels of an F1 car, esp the wheel to wheel flat out sparks flying dice with Mansell (whereMansell comes out on top), then check out the on board footage of one of his flying Quali laps at Monaco - simply breathtaking.
This week, in my town, the new movie - "Senna"finally opens at the Cinemas and I cannot wait to see it.....
